He is saying the SUB drive will be bootable. therefore, there wont be any reason to have a hard drive connected (since you will be booting from the USB drive and not the hard drive).
BenQ drives are the easiest to flash. Just get a USB pro from Team Xecuter. People even sell theirs used for...
This can happen when you flash 800 FW, do not flash any FW, or the drive is dead.
If you have the ability to flash it, try and hook it up to your PC and see if JungleFlasher can detect the drive.
I guess it couldnt hurt to try and switch out the internal cables if you have extra.
BenQ drives are the easiest to flash. If you have a desktop with a spare SATA port, you sohuld be able to do it. Unfortunately, since you have a laptop, you will need a USB pro to flash anything.
Most PCs from about 2005 on have 2 or more SATA ports. You should be able to pick one up for $25...
Replacing the thermal paste does nothing. The only thing thermal paste does is aid the heat transfer between the chip and the heatsink so the excess heat can be removed from the console.
Overheating simply expands the solder joints to make a VERY temporary connection again. After a few heat...
You cannot JTAG a slim.
You can do the RGH hack which will make your console a lot like a JTAG. However, after this, you cannot go online. In addition, it costs about $60 for the materials and you have to open your console.
You may be able to flash the drive to play burned games. However, you...
I have always used a diode on LPT 11 as the diagram below shows.
Extenze, dont give up yet! If you do decide you are, let me know. I may buy the board off of you (depending on price).
Edit: I just realized these diagrams differ slightly.... I have ONLY used the one I posted and I have never...
Shorten you LPT cable to under 1.5 feet. Make sure your soldering is spot on. Also, it will not work with an LPT card connected in a PCI slot. The LPT port must be built in. Diodes must be facing the right way. Soldering must be pretty good.
Check those and give them a shot. if it still doesnt...
Basic non-XGD3 method: Get a DL burner. Get some DL DVDs. Get your ISO. Download Image Burn. Open Image burn. Insert a blank DL DVD. Select the ISO you want to burn. Burn it.
If you need more specific info, please ask in the original post.
You need to get the key off of the old drive and put it on the replacement. Also, your drive may be the same make, but they need to be the same model too.
What is the code? Most of the time, if an update failed, it is because it got to about 50% then stopped. The last 8 digits of the code will tell you what update it was (12625, 14599, etc). Just download the proper update, put it on a USB drive, and it will finish.
Disassemble the console and get the disk back. Try it again. If the same thing happens, you may have to replace the drive.
Odd problem to have. I cant really think of anything that could be causing it.
it is simply a missing .bin file. The JTAG tool is hit-or-miss. Use EasyFreeboot to create your freeboot image. It will work much better.
If you cant figure it out, I will take it off your hands! :w00t:
You need to flash Xell first using the correct SMC points (Did you use standard wiring, AUD_CLAMP, or AUD_CLAMP and TRAY_OPEN).
Once you flash Xell, boot the console using the Eject button to get your CPU Key.
Once you have your CPU key, you can create your freeboot image with the correct SMC...
