Do you think that Microsoft would add backwards compatibility for the 360 onto the Xbox One when the 360 live servers are stopped in 2016?

I highly doubt it. My opinion stems from how backwards compatibility for the Original Xbox over Xbox Live did not happen after its servers were shut down in 2010.

Also, I have a feeling that the 360 servers will stay up longer than 2016. I had heard that M$ said they would carry the 360 servers "well into 2016." Nevertheless, because of the console's popularity, I believe the servers will be held up a bit longer than that.

First off, I would like to say that I love the way you put M$.

Secondly, you're probably right, and I think that they shouldn't stop the servers for a good while, way past 2016 because I really like Black Ops II haha.

Do you think that they might make an "Xbox 360 Complete Call of Duty Collection" for the Xbox One?

I also don't think they'll add backwards compatibility. I read somewhere a while ago that they thought about it but couldn't cause of the uprated graphics like if someone threw a smoke grenade then people on the One would see it but the 360 they wouldn't.

Both consoles are different architectures, it's not as simple as "just adding it", even more so since it would have to be software emulation.

Best case scenario is a service like PS Now.

I would actually not mind this. I had so much fun playing Cod2, 3 and 4. After that, it just kinda stopped being fun and more of a chore. Itd be very interesting to see if they can put all the Cods in one game, on one server.

I aint worried tho, the Master Chief Collection beat them to it.

I hope not. Microsoft needs to focus on the future, not the past. It's a new generation of gaming, embrace it.

No. It's ultimately up to the developers. If they were to use their own servers, then cross compatibility between any console is easy. I'm not sure about using Microsoft's servers, but I'm guessing the Xbox One has a special library for that.

I wouldn't see a reason to shut the servers down if people are still buying there products just because of next gen if they shut down the 360 servers then a lot people would be really mad i still use both 360 and the one to play with my friends.

That is the only way I can see the Xbox One handling backward compatibility. With Microsoft's 300,000 new servers dedicated to the Xbox One and the cloud that they talk so highly about, I believe they could make an "Xbox Now" service.

I have to disagree with you on part of your statement. Master Chief Collection will be my favorite Xbox One game of the year besides Destiny. MCC may be an exclusive, but it is all about the past. It will definitely generate a lot of money for M$. Besides MCC, they should continue to focus on the future as you said.

People still do care about their older games. OG Xbox games aren't worth much now, but they probably will be. 360 generation is just now ending, so games are goring to be cheap for a while. If people didn't care, we wouldn't have games like Panzer Dragoon Saga becoming $300. MS could cash out on a Xbox Now service (provided prices aren't high like Sony's).

That has nothing to do with playing games from the past though. It's also very expensive to keep servers up for games that came out years ago. People will still have a 360 that they can play, just not online. But I'm not saying people wouldn't like it, I'm just saying they should focus on something else instead of focusing on this feature. I'd rather have newer games that will make new memories, than play older ones that already have memories. I was sad when they shut down the Halo 2 servers for the original xbox, but they had to.

They are still focusing on the future here. Taking a great game, updating it, releasing on a new console.

I suppose it is the future too, but it is also the past because it is just taking an old concept and bringing it to the new console. Future to me would be Microsoft adding a new IP, announcing new partnerships, creating exclusive games, etc. MCC is considered both future and past in different aspects depending on how you think of it, therefore we are both right. (:

I agree with you, but at least they are thinking about the future. I don't want to be stuck in the past with a new console.

My mistake. I thought you were saying they shouldn't have backwards compatibly with games, not servers.

It was more towards the streaming of older games (like the PS4 has). I just want them to focus on something for the future, not for something for the past.

Honestly unfortunately I feel like if they had any intention to add backwards compatibility they would have at least mentioned it by now. As far as that COD pack, remasters/enhanced seem to be all the rage for some reason and sell well enough

I hope that it happens but I don't think It will. All of my 360 games going to waste.
