A Nintendo NES game is now being sold on ebay and already has bids in the thousands. The game was part of a special event in 1990 and only 116 were ever made.

The seller is selling his entire game collection that he has worked on for over 25 years, and this one is the rarest and is said that it could reach up to $10,000 (£6000). The game features 3 short versions of games, Tetris, Super Mario and Rad Racer.

As you can see from the picture the cartridge is in quite poor condition and the label has been ripped and Mario has been written in ballpoint pen. The seller stated that he obtained it roughly ten years ago and the seller obviously did not realise what he had. However it does play perfectly fine. Nintendo numbered these cartridges however the seller does not know this ones number but has said that if the buyer were to run tests and find out its number it could be worth a lot more.

Chris Scullion Games editor for Computer and Video Games said:
"It's like finding the rarest Ferrari but with a scratch - you'd still buy it.

"They are considered the holy grail among Nintendo collectors."

The game was made for a Nintendo competition. The entrants were allocated six minutes in which they had to earn points on every game, and the person who cam on top won an trophy a Universal Studios trip and more. There were 90 finalists who were each given one of these cartridges to keep.

One of these cartridges was sold last year at a charity auction and it got $11,000 however it was in better condition.

Despite the small amount of these it is not the rarest Nintendo cartridge. The rarest is the "golden" cartridges that were sent out in another competition by Nintendo Power Magazine.

Here is the Ebay link if you are rich enough.

Wow. Personally, if I had a big collection like the AVGN, I would keep it for a lot longer. It would just build up it rarity.

The sticker in front of the cartridge is yellow (humidity ?), but there is no oxydation on the connectors. Is this normal ?

It's partly from aging. Books do the same thing the paper slowly turns yellow.

At the moment of me typing this, the bid is at $98,400.86. Not to hate guys, but that is just a HUGE waste of money. If you had these types of funds, why not do something better or more productive with your money? If you have a $100,000 to blow on a old *** videogame that you can play for free on your PC, Im sure you have to have money. Regardless its their cash and they can freely do what they want with it.

For your information, this cartridge is one of the rarest games on the planet. In fact, about half of these cartridges are lost and no one knows were they are. I'm actually suprised that it IS this low.

Yeah Im reading on it HERE on wiki, it even shows the auction that we are talking about on there. The only reason I say its a waste of money is because NO KID has those funds, so obviously a ADULT is buying it, for a $100,000, you can easily buy a house or a expensive car, or you can use that money for necessities such as food or a education. I just can't see myself spending that much on a video game. But thats just me.

Hey C Craziness , thanks for this submission, but unfortunately it will not be moving to the homepage, it was not composed badly or anything of that nature, but this was time sensitive news and since the auction is over it's a tad fruitless to promote it unfortunately.

Keep up the good work, though.
