well i got mine in 2010 from Target and the only thing that messes up is the 1080p

for a flatscreen anything less than $500 its going to be a garbage tv. I personally use a monitor because they have less input lag.

Anyone know if the Elgato will record Wii U gameplay since it has HDMI?

elgato is a worthless piece of junk in my opinion

Hmm, I use it all the time and have no problems with it. Also it's compact so I can take it places. Good to know someone has a different opinion though.

It just seems that a little box like that doesnt have enough power for good video recording. I might be wrong but only way i can find out is to use one

It kinda runs off your PC power, but not a ton. I use I Inspiron 1525 with mine and never had an issue.

I would like to put my two cents in here. If you are looking for an capture card i recommend checking out the Elgato HD or the Elgato HD 60. I'm not sure about the Elgato HD 60 because it just came out but the Elgato HD is amazing and works great for recording videos. It's about 140-150 bucks and will save you some hassle. This capture device only supports HDMI not to sure how to get anything else to work but the quality comes in great and it works great in streaming programs like OBS for livestreaming or recording locally. Just my input, elgato doesn't pay me to say that, wish they would
If you would like to see some footage of it in action my youtube channel is in my signature.
