Plug the JTAG directly to the router/modem that you are using. If that doesn't work, port forward the regular Xbox Live ports to the retail and set the retail to a static IP. If that still doesn't work, literally bridge the two Xboxs (Ethernet in one to the other). Also, are you doing a recovery lobby, because to host ONLINE you need you're JTAG online and this wouldn't be necessary.

One more thing, if you are doing a recovery lobby, the last method of connecting the Xboxs that I posted will not work. That is because you will need to be connected to live, but when you have both of them connected via Ethernet cable you will not be connected to live (Even if you also have a wireless adapter in the retail. It picks Ethernet over Wireless - Always).

First, I think your getting things mixed up. If YOU were hosting a challenge lobby why would you get that error. Secondly, if YOU were going online with the jtag, people would connect to you. If it is a XP lobby your meaning, then it's a different issue. As part of some infections, comes something called force host. This makes it so that no matter what you ARE the host of the game. So that all the modifications are working. If someone has a better connection than you, then THEY will get the error. If that's the case, then there's really nothing you can do about it. Except maybe change your DNS, ensure your NAT type is open, or get better internet.

First the guy is saying that both are on a wireless connection. Laptop wifi via bridging the connections. Another thing is that plugging a jtag directly into the router is irrellevant. It truly has no effect on NAT type. Yeah, maybe the connection might not be as good, but as far as his error, HIGHLY doubtful. Another issue is anytime you set a static IP in a console it most of the time, restricts the NAT. ALWAYS use the DHCP settings to assign IP's based on MAC addresses. It ensure NAT type stays open, and allows for static IP's. Also, the fact you state it picks ethernet over wireless ALWAYS is moot. I currently have four xboxes in my house. One my retail, my rgh, my girlfriends retail, and my roommates retail. I have had MANY times that we were all on xbox live at the same time. Both of mine are on wireless (both slims), my girlfriends is plugged in ethernet, my roommates is wireless. None of us has ever had any problems connecting to anyone or even each other for that matter; and I have never had to port forward or assign static IP's.

Plus it truly sounds the issue he is having is not that complex. Also, I think the question has to be worded a bit better, or in more depth.

My mobile ticked over my wording again. I was taking about if the only way your console would connect was through bridging them through Ethernet, you wouldn't be able to host a workin recovery because you won't be able to connect to live.

Also, when I got the same error, after port forwarding and setting it to static, it was fixed.

Ah, gotcha. Wouldn't really need live though on the jtag. Just make sure the jtag is the one on the bridged connection.
Not on the jtag, on the retail. For a recovery lobby retail needs to be connected to Live.

Der. i.e. The RETAIL is on the regular connection, with LIVE. The jtag is on the bridged connection, to the retail for system link stats editing. Kinda common sense.

When you said "bridged" I thought you were taking about what I said about bridging the two consoles.

Oh, no. I meant bridging on the laptop. Had to do that on my old elite, when I didn't have a ethernet cord long enough for it.
