NEVER buy these pieces of crap, in fact they probably do not have any safety checks.

thats my build. however, im getting a compatibility issue with case and mobo. I have not purchased the case yet, and i don't want to go back to microcenter and return the mobo. If you could help me find a different case that is just as good as the HAF912 in that price range that would be great.

The case will work fine. All the incompatibility issue means is that the case doesn't come with native USB 3.0 ports even though the motherboard supports it. Its because the case is an older case made before USB 3.0 was out.

The only incompatibility is the lack of a forward usb 3.0 port @ the front

You can add USB 3.0 to the front easily with accessories that newegg sells that'll fit into one of the optical drive bays.

to be honest, what runs on usb 3.0?

USB 3.0 is being adopted worldwide now so most newer storage devices use it. It's backwards compatible with USB 2.0 though, and the motherboard has USB 3.0 ports on the back so it's all good.

The HAF-912 is a pretty old case though, a few newer alternatives are the NZXT Source 210 Elite, Corsair 200R, Rosewill R5, BitFenix Merc Alpha/Beta and the Fractal Design Core 3000 USB 3.0 (and that's just the sub-$60 case market) so don't be afraid to shop around to find the best.

Many things its a must now a days if you are using an external ssd to reach anywhere near rated speeds if not using esata interface. Even if you dont have a case with USB 3.0 front panel header you will still have plenty of USB 3.0 ports on the back of the mainboard so no worries about USB 3.0 unless you need them on the front of the case.

This Lian Li case would be worth looking into with all aluminum construction it is higher build quality than the Haf and it has USB 3.0 front panel ports, it would also weigh much lighter compared to a steel case.
