Hey there 7s. Welcome to another fab tutorial by yours truly. Today were gonna flash a Benq drive with the latest LT+ 3.0. Were also going to go into some of the issues some people may have during this process. Afterwords we will go into flashing a spare Benq drive with the famous 0800 firmware to dump games with.
Requirements
With that being said lets start...
Step 1:
Make sure your computer is COMPLETELY off. If you plug in your dvd and power the xbox on with it on it will freeze. POWER OFF THE COMPUTER! Now place you xbox next to you pc like this
Step 2:
Connect one end of your alligator clips to metal chassis of your xbox and the other to the chassis of you pc. This levels the reference voltages and prevents any undue freezing, frying, etc... Then connect your SATA cable to the back of the Benq. Keep the DVD power cable plugged into the dvd drive as this is how it will be powered. **For those of you out there that know that your not supposed to do this, i know. This is a last resort if someone doesnt have a ck3i, etc...**
Step 3:
Next were going to do something known as the "tray half open method". Im not really sure if this is required but were going to do it anyways as an extra precaution. To do this follow these steps...
Now that the tray is "half-open" you can turn on your pc. It may hang a bit on boot, but be patient it will start. Once its on you can fire up JungleFlasher. BE SURE TO RUN IT AS ADMINISTRATOR! It will not work otherwise. Now its important to note that jungleflasher says
"portio64.sys Driver Installed
portio64.sys Driver Started, thanks Schtrom !"
in the "LOG" box. This indicates that your pc is able to communicate with your xbox 360 drive.
Navigate to the "MTK Flash 32" tab at the top. On the top left you will see a drop down box with a couple check boxes to the right of that. Make sure that the only one that is checked is "include non-IDE ports"
Now from the drop down box find your drive by selecting each one until you see "PBDS" next to Vendor and "VAD6038" next to Name. This is your xbox 360 drive. Note the I/O port. You may need this later.
Step 5:
Now that we found our drive we need to read the current firmware from it. Press "Benq Unlock". You will notice that the Vendor now says "Drive in vendor mode". This is good. Now press "Read". It will read your current firmware into jungleflasher. After its done it will ask if you want to auto-load benq LT-plus. Press yes.
Once its read your firmware it will auto-open the "Firmware Tool 32" tab. You will see your DVD key in its box. It should also auto-load the LT+ 3.0 firmware in the "target" tab.
Step 6.
Switch back to the "MTK Flash 32" tab and click "Write". It will now write the LT+ firmware to your DVD drive. After its done it should verify the flash ok. Now press the "Outro/ATA Reset" button. This puts your Benq back in "non-vendor" mode so it can be used by the xbox again. You will note that it should say "PBDS" next to Vendor again.
Now were done. All you have to do is pop in a burned game and it should read just fine.
For those of you who need a streamlined version of this tutorial, here you go:
Troubleshooting Section:
Requirements
- Xbox 360 Benq DVD drive
- Xbox 360 Motherboard with video and power cables
- PC with SATA port or ck3(I used a SATA port)
- Spare SATA cable
- Alligator clips
- Installing PortIO (best to do this before you start with anything else)
- [Click here to view this link]
- iXtreme LT+ Firmware (get from AutoXbins):
- Please give autoxbins a few minutes to connect to the server. Once it's connect, you want to follow this directory:
/XBOX 360/firmware/hacked firmware/ - Once there, search for your drive, download the LT+ firmware (whichever is the newest version is, I believe the final is 3.0, my guide is showing 1.1 but it shouldn't matter, just follow the steps with the newer fw.)

- Power on your xbox
- Press the eject button to open the tray
- Press the eject button again to close the tray but put your finger in the way so it cant close completely. It will try to reopen, so just put your hand in the way so that the tray doesnt move.
- After a few seconds release your fingers and hands from the tray and it should stay in place.

Troubleshooting Section:
I get "PortIO Not installed", how do i fix this?
This is caused by not installing PortIO64.sys. How do you install this? Follow the "PortIO64 Install Tutorial" above.
My computer freezes when i plug in my drive and try the "half-open" method.
This is from having the SATA cable plugged into your drive and turning on the xbox with the pc already running. There is a reason why step number one is "turn off pc"
I had my pc off before doing the "half-open" method, but now my computer freezes and the boot screen.
Again, be patient if you followed the tutorial correctly it will eventually unfreeze. It took 5 minutes one time for my pc to unfreeze.
If there is anything i missed as far as the troubleshooting section goes, please let me know.
