Hey guys, I'm interested in getting an SSD for my PC since I've just now learned about them, I just don't know which one to get. Do you really need a big one or can I store most of my data on my HDD still and switch games over to the SSD as needed? Will 128GB be sufficient? Also, are there any particular brands you recommend?

If you only want to put some games and the OS on the SSD, 120-128gb should be okay, and i suggest you either the intel 330 series or the OCZ Vertex serie

I reckon right now the perfect size is 120/8GB. It's enough to store your OS, programs and 5+ games (depending on size). Everything else such as unused games, media, files and documents can stay on your HDD.

As for which to get, the most important thing right now is getting a reliable SSD, as the speed between SSD's is very minimal, unnoticeable even. Samsung 840 (the Pro version is faster but a hella' more expensive), OCZ Vertex 4, Intel 330/520 series, Crucial M4 and Corsair Force GT all make for excellent drives. The Intel 520 SSD has a 5 year warranty (all but the Vertex 4 which also has 5, have 3 year warranties), comes with Civilisation V, and Intel are one of the most trusted SSD manufacturers so I would go with that.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have one more question, do I need to install an OS onto it for it to still run the other items quickly, or could I keep the OS on the HDD and just have a slower boot?

The main reason you usually get a computer is to make your computer boot faster...

Huh? I rarely have my computer off, and it boots in about 30 seconds as is, I'm not worried about speeding that up by having it boot from the SSD. I was wondering if I HAD to have the OS on the SSD for it to run my other programs properly.

You can do what you said, although it really is highly recommended to install the OS to your SSD. Not just for faster boot times, but general OS tasks that associate with it.
