Alright its time for me to get a nice, amazing desktop computer for christmas

The problem... i know nothing about building computers but my dad builds them  I just have no idea what all would be needed and/or go together well, so i'm building from essentially the ground up :O

Spending limit is gonna be around 700$ but that can be a bit higher since i've got a job

I wanna be able to play games and have great graphics, i use to game back in the day but gave it up for xbox, now i'm considering coming back.

So... go go go

Thanks in advance

Few questions:
Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor/mouse/etc.)?
What games/apps do you intend on using and what will this computer be used for?
What country are you in?
This is custom built, right?

I have headphones, mouse, and keyboard. I'd probably wanna get a new keyboard/mouse more "game tuned" but that i'll have as a separate fund. I've also got a HDMI cable tv, that i can use for a monitor.
Gaming wise, i wanna be able to play top of the line stuff without much issue.
USA
And yes custom built

I'd do everything myself, but its been a long time since i did much on computers for gaming so i'm a bit out of the loop.

Get the 3570K, it's the same price as the 3570 but has an unlocked multiplier so you can overclock.
Go with the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard.
Get a 7850 as performs better than the 560Ti.
Drop the soundcard as the Extreme4 sound will be suffice. Cheap soundcards do the same job as any decent motherboard audio.
8GB of RAM is more than enough for gaming, there is no need for more as you won't see any performance increase.
Go with the CoolerMaster 212 EVO as it can perform roughly the same as the Antec 620 for less, I would only consider the H100/i or H80/i if going with a pre-sealed watercooling loop.

I took some of your suggestions, but actually decided to go with the i7 instead, i know its a tiny bit more but might as well.
Changed to the motherboard you suggested.
Dropped the soundcard.
Debating on changing the graphics card, i've always sworn by Geforce and with 2 of them and SLI it might make a big difference.
Decided against water cooling as i don't wanna deal with that mess.
Also changed the ram in a way that its only 2x8gb now instead of 4x4gb for the same price.

And here's the updated build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qEOJ

Please give some input

Unless this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PJVB3Y/?tag=pcpapi-20#productPromotions

Use this link instead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Plus i'd get Farcry 3 and MOH 2 free

That good?

Dont go with the 2rd gen i7, go with a 3rd gen, and dont go with the 550ti, id go with 1 HD 7950 and when it will be older, crossfire it...

I like your style

Quick question, does that Motherboard support crossfire? Because eventually i will crossfire it but i'd rather not then have to replace the motherboard at that time.

If it doesn't and there's something relatively close in price range that does then that'll work
Yes it does, got 2 PCI Express 3.0, so with crossfireX with 2 card you should be fine

Also, if you dont like the case, you can change it, just make sure its an ATX tower(NOT a micro ATX or Mini ATX)

Wooooh

now will that card by itself be better than the 2 Geforce cards together, in terms of performance? Like... will i be able to get far cry 3 and just crank up the graphics and be good to go?

Yeah, for me too, im mainly playing PC games now, and if you run Far Cry3 1080p, it should run @ 60fps
You might want to OC it a littlebit (Like 1ghz or 1.1ghz, it has dual fan so it should not run too hot)
