I met a guy off craigslist and got a mint wifi PS Vita in box for 180. Got it for a steal  Is there anything I could do on this thing homebrew-wise? I've been playing demos and installing apps so far (youtube, facebook, etc). IMO it's a great handheld, I just hope a GTA/COD/Battlefield comes out for it. My firmware is 1.81.

I'm not 100% but I think there is an eCFW that lets you play PSP ISO's and PSP homebrew. it relies on you buying certain PSP games that people have found exploits in but you have to get it before sony pull them from the store. if you wish to carry on using the homebrew you have to stay on the firmware the exploit was released on, if a game comes out that you want and has a 1.82 update in it you will lose your homebrew. You will then have to wait till a new explot is found in a PSP game and then buy that game again.

I find it pretty pointless TBH, if you want to play PSP homebrew then buy a £20 PSP with a faulty UMD drive.

Cod Black ops Declassified is coming out on the same day as Black ops 2 but be warned its not Treyarch who is developing it, its nihilistic, some 3rd rate dev whos never touched a cod game before, Nihilistic made Resistance Burning skies on vita and it turned out to be pretty dire so people expect BOD to be the same.

Thanks for the info. I saw the BOD trailer and it seemed off so I guess that's why. And yeah I have a PSPGo for homebrew so it IS pointless to buy a game just to have a chance at homebrew. Is there any news on an exploit that does not rely on buying games?

They are working on a CFW but for now the only exploits known are in the built in PSP emulator, which runs a modded version of 6.60 OFW for the PSP, give it enough time and there will be something  As of right now the only way to run homebrew is to buy a game sadly. I dont have a vita but i follow the scene very closely, I had a PSP running 6.60 PRO - B9 CFW but i sold it :frown: If you need any help with hacking and stuff send me a PM.

I'm not into handhelds, but I have played a Vita and it is a smart bit of kit. Can't see it ever beating the 3ds in terms of sales though. I am dying to play the vita's Uncharted though, maybe one day I'll get lucky and it will see a PSN store release.

Sorry for the bump, but i was just wondering if the vita is worth it and what games do you reccommend i get?
-Thanks.

Top 5 games IMO are Assassins Creed 3, Black Ops Declassified, Uncharted, Need for Speed: Most wanted, and that Rayman game (I haven't played this one yet but reviews are really good and it seems enjoyable) but truthfully if you have an xbox or ps3, I would hold out just a bit longer for more games to come out so you could get your moneys woth.

Please don't tell people this. The reason the Vita is doing so poorly right now is because people have that mentality. What people fail to realize that there is a lack of support because there is a lack of a fanbase.

There's lack of a fan base because it costs more or less the price of a full home console and to be honest, vita really isn't too special, in my opinion. Yes it's a bloody powerful handheld, but that's just keeping the price high. I would have thought Sony would have learnt from the PS3.

This may be kind of out dated, but check wololo.net. They have tuts on stuff like that, " if you want to install custom firmware". If it's still on 1.81 they do have a cfw for it. It runs inside the pspemu tho.

My cousin has a PS Vita, Its very nice.
I thought I would see some lag considering it was a handheld device running high end games, But no, no lag at all.
