Useful post. And i want to do some makeup to the topic: Some Xbox 360 users can not burn their games to some type of DVD like DVD-R DL, in fact, DVD+R DL is the only ones that will work with the Xbox360. In addition, if the size of ur games is too big to back up on a DVD disc, you can consider split the game properly onto the disk ...

Is this still the best method for making backups of our originals? It's insane how fast the methods change and how slow Google tends to trend them to the top.

Just flashed the dvd drive (samsung) and am looking to make a backup to test my success or not on the newly flashed drive. Is the drive listed in the OPs post the best/only one that will read the game discs? Is there a method for ripping them straight from the xbox 360 to, say, a USB device? The Wii seems to really shine in easiness by comparison here.

Those are my questions!

Yeah, it's been 3 years. What's the current method for reading Xbox360 games on PC? Obviously, those drives are near impossible to find now. The only listing I found in searching claims to be a Toshiba with that model number, not Samsung.

Any update on this? Is Samsung SH-D162CC still the only way?

Hi there, I've been using a Liteon DG-16D4S to backup my valuable discs with X360USB Pro 2 & XBC 2.9.0425.

1. Is it to OK to ignore the Trojan/Virus warnings that pop up from the zip & installer for XBC? Is this just an overly sensitive antivirus response to the way XBC operates, or are there dodgy versions of the app?

2. Some discs have trouble when reading security sectors & partitions etc - even after their surface has been refinished with a commercial disc machine. Could this be an issue with the Liteon getting tired, or is this also common with some discs? I have a disc that has shown up as unreadable a couple of times on my 360, but then I was able to "install" it to the 360 HDD, & it has played fine from that time with the disc in the ODD. It still won't successfully rip through the Liteon/XBC however.

3. Is there a consensus on good/best drives for ripping If I need to replace my Liteon?

Update:
Replaced the drive mech of my Liteon with a spare underused one (kept the pcb - JF/XBC already recognises it) and now I'm ripping at lightning speed once again.

I guess the other one was just getting tired after 400+ iso's.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but here goes...
I have a Samsung TS H943 that I flashed with 0800 firmware and it is recognized in jungle flasher and xbc v2.9 0425 but I get an error if I try to eject the drive from "my computer" and it says no media present in XBC even though I have an original 360 disc in it. My drive is wired directly to my PC power supply. Any ideas?
Thanks
