I realize that a lot of people here are lazy, to lazy in fact, to read a 1,500 words (it takes the average reader to read it in 5 minutes). So to make your lives easier, I have added headlines to each paragraph. This way, if you do not have the time or willpower to read the entire topic, you can scroll down, and chose what you want to read. Here's the game plan:
Think what gets on your nerves the most, as you play Modern Warfare 3. Scroll down, find the issue that bugs you, read and reply.
Introduction
Okay guys (and gals) everyone take a deep breath, chill out... and simmer down now. After hours of up on days of reading about the hatred towards MW3, and also writing about how I hate MW3... all while continuously playing MW3, I have realized something. I am guilty of being a HYPOCRITE, as well as most of you who read this are guilty as well. It's really not THAT bad. If you think about, we really do expect to much from the Call of Duty series. Every new one that comes out, we expect it to be bigger, and better than the last. Well, they can only do so much. Although MW3 wasn't much different from MW2, it was still different. There was still a lot of changes to the game. Maybe not so much in the graphics area, but you have to admit the point streaks was a pretty good idea.
Point Streaks & Stealth Bombers
I am talking about the points streak in general, not the specific streaks. I know a lot of you even hate on the stealth bomber as a support streak, as I have done also. But... I have used it a many of times to flush out spawn trappers or campers. Honestly, when it makes me mad, is when I am on a high kill streak, but usually because I am posted up in a high traffic area. You can't really hate on that. Death Streaks
I know we all tend to hate on the death streaks. Yes, they can piss us off, but if a guy goes 2-21, do we really need to hate on him because he pulled out C4 and got one kill on us, even though we went 32-4? No... they are there for a reason, it evens the game out. Think of it this way, you get stuck with a green kid, level 20, no prestige... his Last Stand C4 kills the guy that is one away from an Osprey, I bet you are glad he used it then, right? I use it for my "I Am Getting Pooped On" class. I don't suck at the game, I would say I am better than average, not great by any means, but above average. But I still have my "noobish" class with support and a shady death streak for when a party of try hards come in to the lobby and go all H.A.M.Overpowered Weapons
Let's talk weapons. In my opinion, the MP7 is overpowered, but other people will say the Type95, ACR, Akimbo FMG9s or Striker is overpowered. So who is right? Who is IW supposed to listen to, to determine which weapon needs degrading? This is my point, every one wants something different. If they listened to everyone, than every gun on the game would have the power a potato gun. Copy & Paste Controversy
I know a lot of you all, including my self, used to or still believe that this is more like MW2.5. For one, it's a sequel, which doesn't mean it automatically brings better graphics, and an entire new game. However, it was rushed and we have Activision and ourselves to blame for that. Activision pushed to get MW3 out by November, just in time for Christmas. However, we demanded the game as soon as possible. Also, with Battlefield, they needed to release it about the same time. Mainly, however, we have Activision to blame. You had IW employees not getting their promised bonuses, and the lawsuit with Vince Zampella and Jason West (two of the co-founders of IW) for secretly conspiring to create a new game company, and recruiting IW employees, while still under Activision pay roll. This put a delay on everything. Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software didn't have a lot of time to develop the extraordinary game that we had all imagined. You have to give them credit, they did what they could, under the little time given. As humans, we are greedy. If you could make millions or even billions doing the same thing, would you really change much? Regardless of self greed, they have came out with a great series, one that will always be in the gaming history books, one that we will always play. Lag & Lag Compensation
In regards to Lag and Lag Compensation, no need to get outraged. You are using the internet, there will always going to be lag. No matter what game you play, there will always be lag online. Call of Duty is NOT the only game with lag issues. You have people all over the world, trying to play online. Some of which can afford, or have the availability to 50+ Mbps. What about the others who can only afford, or live in a rural area, with only 1.5 Mbps speed. Are they supposed to suffer? Lag Compensation is there for a reason, it's to make things as fair as POSSIBLE. Just because it isn't the greatest now, doesn't mean it will always be the same. Right now the developers are busy fixing glitches, hackers, cheaters and creating new DLC. We are asking to much at once. Trust me, I get aggravated at it too, I have even made a topic about it. Most people who say the suffer from it, it never even affects them. We tend to get to competitive, and want to blame the game when we have a bad game, or if someone is just plainly better than us. The best thing we can do, is to push for dedicated servers.Call of Duty Elite
In case you all didn't notice, this is the first time of Elite. Just like any 1.0 version, there are going to be flaws, there are going to be issues that need to be ironed out. Even though Elite really doesn't have anything to do with the actual game play, people still complain about as if they payed $60 for it. News flash people, it was and still is FREE for the basics. As we have all heard, a lot of people think Elite Premium was a waste. If you base it of the site alone, the Premium isn't that great. Although, you do get the maps before anyone else, and at a discounted price. For those who think the maps suck, have some patience, only 43% of the DLC has been released. I like Elite, yes it needs some work done, but remember, it's the first time they have ever tried anything like this. Besides, how many other FPS games offer online stats? I'm pretty sure Halo's and Battlefield's version of "Elite" is nothing close to great.
The Dream of Perfectionism
First off, and for most, many people had their expectations set way to high for a sequel. This game in particular. Let's face it, Modern Warfare 3 really isn't that bad. As we are humans, we tend to exaggerate. With this being "Call of Duty", and they competitive gaming that has aspired with in us, we tend to expect to much. When you stop expecting games to be perfect, you can enjoy games for how they are. In the game creators eyes, they have no fear in perfection, because they know they will never reach it. As long as us, the "gamers" stop nickering at all the little things, until us, the "gamers" focus on the major issues, and all come to an agreement on the major issues, they won't listen to us. You won't see the patches we, the "gamers" desire. So, the next time you go tweet about how some one shot you with a shotgun, or used to fully automatic pistols to kill you, think about it before you post it. You are only causing the creators to ignore us. Done with Call of Duty
I know a lot of people always say, "This is the last Call of Duty game I will ever play, I'm not buying the next one"For real... is it really? How many of you all said that with Black Ops? Besides, what first person shooter are you going to play instead? I dare you to try rushing like you do on CoD while playing Battlefield, you are just going to get smoked. What other games do you play for 24-240+ hours... Call of Juarez, Dreamkiller, Homefront, Tom Clancy??? You might get close to playing Halo or Battlefield for that many hours, but guess what, them games aren't perfect either.
To Make it Better
We can take a stand, not by not playing the game, or black outs, that's just retarded. We should come together as a community, decide on what we want fixed. By eliminating the minor or irreparable issues, we can come forth with the major issues, that can actually make the game better. As I said before, these issues can't be a lot of the same that contradict each other, they have to be in mass agreement. Conclusion
We all must admit, we have been demanding perfection, we say the game is worse than what it really is. Think about it, it's really not a bad game. Don't let your competitiveness blind you from enjoying a game. As Modern Warfare 3 is not the best Call of Duty game in most opinions, it's still a great game. It's fun, it's the newest of them all, it's enjoyable if you can just get it in your head that it's NOT PERFECT. So clear your head, know that it is what it is, and have fun playing. If it helps, I had some Army stuff to do for about 8 days, so I wasn't able to play at all. After returning from an 8 day break, I found that MW3 was more enjoyable. So if you are like me, and played every day with frustration, put the game down for a couple of days, and come back. Otherwise, play something else. *If you have took the time to read this to it's entirety, I thank you for your patience and undivided attention. ***Credit for an excellent reply, which is now in the opposition:
The hate that Call of Duty has generated comes to down to the unrealistic exceptions people have. I think most people have this perception that a sequel means better graphics, or a complete re-haul of the game. Infinity Ward and Treyarch aren't the only game designers to do a "copy & paste".
