First, thanks for taking a look at this topic and helping me; I really do need it.

A while ago, I tried flashing my Xbox360 (it's a phat Lite-On 7C) and before I had time to dump the key or anything, I lost power so the drive turned off. When I tried again, the DVD drive just wouldn't power on (although the CK3 would for a millisecond, before turning off) As far as powering the drive with the console and using it normally, it doesn't work either; I get no response from the drive and the center light just keeps on flashing green. From what I've gathered, I think this means my Xbox360 has entered "bad flash" mode. However, some people also told me it was a short circuit and/or that the circuits/board were fried. Although I'm not sure who's right, all I need is just to get the key so I can try flashing it again.

So that's what I'd need help with; how can I get the key back, even though I can't read from my DVD drive.

I thought of one way to do it, but I'm not sure if it would work. Here it is. Somebody once told me:

...it depends on the motherboard. But if you have a Jasper, Zephyr or Vejle [Slim], it can be jtagged, Xell installed and you can retrieve your DVD key again, like so:

The thing is, I looked at the the requirements for Jtagging an Xbox360 and my kernel is barely too high to be Jtagged. BUT, I'd like to know, how far can I possibly get into the Jtagging process AND can I get far enough to get my key back? If so, it may be a viable way (or the only way) to get back my DVD key.

If it's not possible, what can I do to play games on my Xbox360? I don't care whether I have to use discs or an external hard drive, I just want to be able to play games; and I will be happy enough even if I can only play offline.

Good news and bad news here...

Good News: Your drive probably isnt dead. I would guess that it is just locked up. Try using the 'outro' feature a few times. If that does not work, you can try using Dosflash to reset the drive (I have never done this).

Bad News: If your drive turns out to be dead, you cannot JTAG your xbox to get the key. Your only options would be to send your drive away to someone who can extract the key from the chip or you could use the Reset Glitch Hack (which will cost money and a good bit of time) write Xell to your NAND, and get your CPU/DVD key that way.

What's that "outro" feature you're talking about? And if I reset the drive, won't the key be lost?

That sure sucks... no other way to get the key?

There should be a button on JF (havent used it in a month so I am not 100% familiar with it) instead of 'intro/device ID' it should say 'outro'. Try that.

You are not reseting your drive. You are just sending an outro command so it isnt in a writable state anymore.

My suggestion would be to send it to a guy close to Team Xecuter, Tea Junkie (Paul). He can pull the chip and extract the key right from the chip. The guy is great. He has saved 2 drive keys for me.

link to his shop: http://www.ltrepairs.co.uk/

He is in the UK. If you are in the US, just end him the board, not the entire drive. Shipping will only be about $5 and he will only charge you $25 for the service. You then get the FW dump, Dummy.bin, and DVD key emailed to you.

Will that "outro" feature work even if my CK3 can't stay turned on and if JungleFlasher can't see the drive? And by sending a command to the drive to make it in a non-writable state, will that mean I won't be able to try flashing it again?
