I recently installed windows 7 on my desktop. The problem is apparently the video card is not good enough because the resolution is stuck at 640 X 480 or something like that..aka the desktop is HUGE and annoying. I want to re-install XP however no matter how I restart the computer, change the boot order in BIOS to start from the disk, etc, the pc will NOT start up with the disk. When the computer boots and I click on my computer the disk shows up just fine with no problems. I can not just install XP from that because windows says that the version I have installed (7) is an better version or whatever so it will not allow me to do it that way. Does anyone know how I can possibly boot from a disc or what hardware may be messed up. It is not a legit copy of XP either. It is a downloaded ISO. I know the disk is not the problem because it will load up just fine on my other 2 pc's with XP on them. All I want to do is do a fresh install of XP and that is all. I do not want to keep windows 7 due to me needing to spend $ on a new graphics card or whatever it is.

Why not just find the drivers for your card? Windows 7 is a much better OS than xp. Just one thing maybe your boot record is messed up.

it just says standard VGA for the card and as far as the boot record how would I know if it is and is there a fix for it?

download driver genius and install that and it will search for the drivers for you. btw you'll need a cracked version if you want to get the drivers free.

*Facepalm*

Download the respective drivers for your card. That will fix all of your problems.

Since you already have windows 7 installed, why dont you download VirtualBox a free virtual machine and load your XP into that, once you upgrade that is... but yeah, driver software is very important lol
