Ok, I have my xbox apart, the av and powercord are plugged in right and when I turn the xbox on with my controller, the xbox turns on, then goes really fast (fans) then I get the two red lines. Also, my disc tray opens half way and stops.
Please help!

2 RROD = Overheating

Let your Xbox cool down and try again

Make sure you have good ventilation around your Xbox

It thinks that it's overheating immediately. I think there's a way to reset this once you have gotten it (as in that it is no longer overheated but it thinks it is so you reset it), but if you just suddenly got this from normal play then it will overheat again in the future. Make sure it has good ventilation and the thermal paste might be trashed.

Its not overheated. The xbox has almost, no dust in it. :frown:
I fixed the disk tray problem. Is there something that may be unplugged?

I know it's not overheated but it thinks that it is through a false reading OR you don't have enough or really any thermal paste in which case it would overheat in about 10 seconds (not even)so make you have enough thermal paste on, or if this is a retail then it's possible the thermal paste has gone bad.

If the heatsinks arent on properly (to loose/light/awkward position) your console will automatatically get 2 RRoD. Check the secondary error code to see which heatsink it is.

0011 = CPU
0012 = GPU
