How to test WAW Common.ff's
To test Mods on waw PC you first need all the updates from 1.1 to 1.7. I found all the updates by searching gooogle- call of duty world at war patch 1.1 and so on
( people have made torrents which contain all updates as the updates are pretty big )
(Some of the updates exceed +500mb.)
Then you need to open Run then type %appdata% then go to local Activision CodWAW then make a folder called Mods.
Now, inside you create another folder which is the name of your mods for example Testmod.
Then inside that folder create a folder called maps.
Now you need to open ff viewer then open the patch you want to test
(NOTE: all patches usually require different gsc's in the maps folder.)
Now on the left you will see files like art.gsc now you wanna export certain files- for the phoenix v2 patch i had to export \/ \/ \/
_cheats.gsc
_createdynents.gsc
_art.gsc
_hud_message.gsc
_debug.gsc
now you want to right click the required files for the mods you are testing in ff viewer then click export then save to desktop.
next cut all the files you exported into the maps folder inside your mods folder so it would go like this Codwaw/Mods/nameofmod/maps/heres where you paste the files
now once all the files have been pasted go back into the folder where it says maps then you need winRAR to do this next part , you right click the maps folder then click add to archive now there will be two options on left saying RAR or ZIP now click zip and in that text field where it should say maps.zip change zip to iwd and the maps to the name of the mods e.g mine was phoenix v2 so i renamed it to phoenix v2.
Inside the iwd will be the maps folder.
Load up the game select the mods option and inside should be the newly created mod click that then selcect load. Now when it loads open a game of Nazi zombies and see if it worked
REMEMBER
all mods usually require different gsc's inside the maps folder, if your getting a unknown function its most likely that youve tried editing that mod or you dont have the right files in maps. to find out the right files post a topic on se7ensins or ask the author.
TROUBLESHOOTING
you dont have the latest 1.7 update
you have not renamed the iwd to the name of mods ( folder that its in )
the order of the files are not correct e.g it should be codwaw/mods/nameofmod(e.g test)/nameofmod(e.g test).iwd
you have put the gsc's inside the iwd and not in the maps folder inside the iwd
run the game as admin
IF you cant get it to work add me on AIM or windows messenger : [email protected] , i will help through team viewer ( i will not be able to help you between 8:00-3:15 United kingdom timezone as i have school on weekdays
YOU CANNOT TEST THE CODE_POST_GFX ON PC, YOU MUST HAVE A JTAG AS THIS FILE IS FOR XBOX ONLY
VIDEO HELP ( NOT MY VIDEO)this video doesnt show 100% what i do like instead of exporting the files it tells you to make .txt files and paste in the code but that takes twice as long
