I have done a few PS3 re-flows and a couple of laser replacements. But now, I am faced with a new issue. This console just turns on with a green light, beeps once at the same time, and then shuts down instantly. It seems too fast for it to be overheating. I was thinking it may also be the power supply but I don't have a spare to test that theory. Anyone know what this is?

I'm almost certain that is a console brick.

Did you try to run a CFW on it?
This is a customers repair, I will ask him in the morning.

you bricked bud
What makes this console bricked? I'm more asking for information purposes. Is it something blown on the main board? Like a MOSFET or something? Is it a chip issue? I can re-flow or re-ball as necessary.

Its the software that is causing the problem. Its like a PC without a working OS. It won't start.

It's something in the NAND or something. What I know is that it can't be fixed or repaired.

Let me know. I'm interested to see if it works.
Ok guys. Here's the outcome. This console was NOT bricked. This issue was not firmware or software related. After opening the unit and inspecting further, I found that the power supply had been tampered with. This gave me enough cause to grab another one and swap it out. THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE ISSUE. A faulty power supply will cause a unit to power for a split second and then turn off. After replacing the part, I turned the console on to be greeted with a YLOD. That was good news compared to the "unknown problem" that it could have been. After a re-flow, the console powered and booted fine. Another one bites the dust.

I have just received a console with this exact problem. I have tried a new power supply that works and there's no change. If I press eject I hear 3 beeps. If I press power I get 1 beep green power light then instant shut down.. has anyone else came across a fix?

Hate to tell you this, but the last reply to this thread was around a year ago (not including mine and yours).
