Hi all! Good day!

I am very new to modding consoles and I have two xbox 360s. I believe I have read quite a lot but still I am getting confused with the terminologies. anyway I just want to post here my Xbox's specs and if someone could help me (even just point me to a specific tutorial for my consoles.

Specs:
1st Xbox 360: Jasper
Dash Board: 2.0.17559.0
MFR Date: 2009-11-01
* From my readings, this console can only be modded using RGH.

2nd Xbox 360: Falcon

Dash Board: 2.0.16747.0
MFR Date: 2008-06-21
* From my readings, this console can be modded using Jtag or RGH.

So I also encountered the term R-JTAG which I don't really know the difference between Jtag.

From these information that I have. I was thinking for a way in which I can maximize materials needed so if ever I pick a method, it will be the one that can be used for both of the units. SO from what I understood RGH is the best way? Will have to read about RGH versions though.
Please correct me also if I have wrong understanding or information stated. By the way English is not my first language so please forgive me if I have errors in grammar or other related.
I also don't want anyone to spoon feed and I don't want to give that impression. Its just that I read a lot of materials and I am not sure what to use now(2020).
I only need a bit of direction and Im good to go. All help will be much appreciated.

I am currently reading some of the threads here by the way.

P.S. I live in Ireland so if someone can also suggest where to buy the needed materials in Europe that would be of great help.

Thank you so much in advanced!

For both these consoles I would recommend doing rgh 1.2's. Neither is jtagable due to the dashboard being so high. I personally use Matrix glitch chips on phat consoles as I have had the most luck and best boot times with these. As for where to buy them, check ebay.

I am so sorry Risking Perfect Risking Perfect . The second console is not the same model. I just edited the original post. But still your answer might be the solution because I intend to use one method only. Will start to read about RGH 1.2.

Thank you so much!

If both system are phats I will still recommend rgh 1.2 as long as the systems are a jasper or falcon. If either is a slim, I would then go with an ace v3. If you are looking for good tutorials lookup TheWeekendModder on youtube. He is an amazing modder and I have used his videos several times when I have taken a break from modding.

Yeah I was able to watch some of his vids but got overwhelmed by the terminologies so I did not really understand that much. But will be watching again by no means.

This is my tentative list of materials so far :
1. Ace V3 (ebay link)
2. JR programmer V2 ( im not sure for the V2 part but I am assuming it does the same as JR programmer) (ebay link)
3. Soldering Iron ( on hand) and solder
4. Desoldering pump

Any recommendations are welcome.

Thanks again!

You are going to need a 220k resistor if doing a rgh 1.2 on a phat with a ace v3 because it's a 5.5v chip. That's why I recommend the matrix, it's a 3v chip.
You will want the JR-Programmer v2, it is faster and will work on almost all consoles (other than corona 4G systems).
If you are looking not to use pcb adapters on your system. I would recommend some cheap resistors to make direct soldering leads on the nand cables.

Thanks for the support Risking Perfect Risking Perfect . I will follow your advice and get this Matrix glitcher then (it says without oscillator though- Is that ok?).

*I am making my posts as organized as possible thinking maybe someday this thread will be helpful to others (its hard learning new things specially with high tech terminologies).

This is the updated materials:

1. Ace V3 (ebay link) edited to Matrix glitcher to avoid additional resistor connection.
2. JR programmer V2 ( im not sure for the V2 part but I am assuming it does the same as JR programmer) (ebay link)
3. Soldering Iron ( on hand) and solder
4. Desoldering pump

If you are looking not to use pcb adapters on your system. I would recommend some cheap resistors to make direct soldering leads on the nand cables.
I don't understand this statement fully but I will try and read about it. What resistors are you referring to? (so I eliminated the 220k resistor for the Ace V3)

Thank you.

What resistors are you referring to?
I was referring to making the nand wires easier to work with.

My apologies for quick answers, I am at work.

haha! So slow of me to pick that up. Thank you for the effort of drawing it for me to understand. Please don't apologize as you are giving me your time and effort. I am the one that must apologize for being so slow to understand. Anyway, I am getting the gist of the process. The seller of the JR programmer and Matrix is just one. I just requested for an extra pin header to use with the matrix.

I saw the some pics on this TUT and it is not that clear to me but I will try my best to understand and will hit this thread a question if it need be.

Thank you again. Keep safe.

That is a great tutorial. If you would like a video to work along side it, here is one being done by TheWeekendModder on a jasper using the matrix chip. Video

Update :
Received materials:
Jr programmer
Matric glitcher
Connectors

Im still waiting for:
Soldering paste(got delayed)

An additional question though, any alternative for the fiber glass scratch pin that weekendmodder uses to clean the contacts in the board? Thanks

It's a 22K OHM resistor he needs to use with an Ace v3 chip in phat 360's and not a 220K OHM,bud

Why buy or use "Soldering Paste" you need "Flux" when your soldering, bud

Thanks B BluesMan67 . I thought they were the same. I guess I have to buy then a soldering flux instead. The one I ordered was "easyprint solder paste".

Update:

Got all my needed materials except(and I did not know I need this) a mini usb connector. I thought the JR programmer uses the micro usb connector which I have.

Waiting for that and I think I'm ready to go.

Thanks guys!

Glad you got the parts sorted out. Weekend modder does have the best tutorials on the web. He uses a nandx programmer but I used a jrpv2 like you got and it worked fine. Just be aware, the jrpv2 can be very picky on the soldering connections that you make. The original factory solder on the motherboard doesn't always flow well with new solder and can cause a cold solder joint or bad connection. I kept running into this with my jrpv2 and eventually after about 5 attempts, removed all the factory solder from the board with a solder sucker and once I resoldered that solved my bad connection issue. Also, make sure the switches on the programmer are in their correct positions.

Once your mod is up and running, for setup follow moddedwarfares jtag/rgh setup tutorials on youtube. Start with #1 and just go down the list.

There is a bit of a learning curve so I suggest watching the videos once first before attempting whatever you're doing but these 2 guys will not steer you wrong. All of their info is recent and up to date and they have solftware links in the video descriptions for whatever they are doing.

One word of warning, once you get to the point where you want to update the stock dash to 17559 and install avatar items (some 360 features are not available on older dash versions), only proceed if the console asks you to apply an update. If the console wants to reboot, it means that something doesn't match up,, either dash or kernel version and the reboot will result in a brick. Only proceed when it asks if you want to apply an update. Also when installing xex menu which is in step 1 of setup, make sure it's sitting in a folder labeled with 16 zeros. Otherwise your xbox won't recognize the file on the thumbdrive. You will know what I mean what you get to the setup part.

Lastly, if you are upgrading the internal hard drive and run into problems with getting the system partition or emulator partition to work, the free version of fatxplorer will fix this. Just get version 2.5 and not the beta. You will also need a sata to usb cable for this. https://fatxplorer.eaton-works.com/download/

Good luck!

I would like to thank all of you who helped me with my little project. I managed to pull it off with the first unit. I am not sure if I will do it with the second unit though. Maybe I will just use it as a back up. Anyway special thanks to Risking Perfect Risking Perfect for guiding me with this.

A and7320 , Yes I am in this situation already where I am reading ways on how to change my drive to a bigger one. 500 GB or 1 TB 2.5 inch SATA will suffice I think? I found this [Click here to view this link] but did not read it yet fully.
Also I did not try to update the dash to 17559,. I will be careful and read more about this process.

Nice job, glad it worked out for you! In regards to upgrading the hdd it's a fairly simple process. Like I said, just get yourself a usb to sata cable and use fatxplorer to format the new drive. That will create all of the correct partitions. Then use ftp to copy your data from the old one to the new. From there its plug n play. No tutorial really needed on that. I would just do it before you load up your existing storage and have a ton of files to copy over. As far as size, you will fill up 500GB really quick if you plan on running rom emulators, og xbox, and 360. Also, not having a good amount of free space can cause your console to run sluggish. The price difference on a 1TB and 2TB is less than $20. I just went for a 2TB and glad I did. As far dependability I would rate the lowest seagate, then western digital, and the best being HGST/Hitachi/Toshiba drives. Hope this helps.

Here are a couple links where you can download some new skins for aurora if you would like to change the look. Just make sure you get the ones for 0.7b which should be the version of aurora you're on if you downloaded the most recent. You can get one that will get rid of the ugly white nav bar at the bottom of the screen and display your avatar in the cover flow screen. For background images you can download any 1920x1080 hd images from google or any wallpaper site.

For the 17559 dash update, some games will not work on an older dash so you may be forced to do it eventually. Just follow modded warfares tutorial and you'll be fine. Once updated, you will need to install avatars if you want to use one. Here is the tut for that.
