The Vehicle Merging Thread
(liveries, Body Styles and more)
yjjbuVA.png

Hello!

This thread has been created because "merging" has become a permanent part of the exploiting world, and deserves to have a "main page", where information can be found about the subject.

"What is a merge, or merging?"
Great question! To put it very simply, merging is when you copy one vehicle's customization parts to another vehicle. This allows you to obtain specific components or colours on a vehicle, which normally shouldn't be possible; like the Turbo upgrade on the Imorgon, adding custom rims to the Zhaba, or painting the Sovereign bike!
The way the merge exploit works is with ID values. Example, if you merge a Panto that has the first front bumper selected (bumper ID=1) onto a Buccaneer, the Buccaneer will receive the equal bumper ID on it, if it allows a front bumper modification. This mechanic is shared with everything, from paint, texture, livery, horns, armor, wheels, body style (also called 'extras')... you name it. Literally everything.
You can abuse this mechanic to obtain the specific vehicle modifications you want with the right "donor" vehicle, a nickname given to the car that has the modifications on it which you want to transfer to another vehicle.

With that being said, this exploit does not allow you to get the hood of a Sabre Turbo onto another car, or put Nitrous on a non-Arena War vehicle, or something similar - that's not how the game has been programmed. It depends on what the receiving vehicle supports in its code, hence why it all depends on IDs.
You also cannot merge car rims onto a bike, and vice versa, however, you can use this as an advantage. More information below.

"Wow, that sounds cool and all, but how do I do it?"
A-ha, another good question! If you've been around this site a few times, you may have spotted thread titles, such as "Benny's Merge", or "Merging Glitch". To do it, it's rather hard to tell, as it very much depends on which method is "active". Since this is an exploit, the developers will eventually patch the "active" method, leaving it up to the community to find a workaround for it. It varies a lot as to when you can attempt a merging exploit.
Historically, you had to use the Arena Workshop to be able to merge, but now there exists multiple different game mechanics that allow you to merge.

"Is there a place where I can see all of the extra components/liveries/F1 wheels and their ID values, then?"
This thread. Right here. Together with many dedicated GTA fans, we've put our heads together to create different spreadsheets for different purposes.
If you take a look below, you'll see all the spreadsheets which have been made for the sole reason to make it easier for you to merge and reduce the guesswork for the merge process.
Keep in mind that the spreadsheets have not been developed with mobile compatibility in mind, so they may look a little messy on a mobile screen. Laptop/PC is recommended to view the spreadsheets.

Liveries:

A livery is a wrap to your vehicle, which allows it to be more unique. Through merging, you can obtain specific liveries to specific vehicles. There are also specific sets of liveries ("set 1" and "set 2") for most weaponized vehicles, and this spreadsheet helps clearing that up, so it makes it more understandable.
(If spreadsheet is broken below, use this LINK instead. If images are broken, blame the Google Sheet format).

(Sheet by Classique and MARINA from GTAF)

Body Styles ('Extras'):

Body Styles (or 'extras') are customization options on vehicles, which typically aren't available in Los Santos Customs, but can be obtained through other means.
Through merging, one of the best vehicles to use for 'extras' is the Panto. The Panto supports a total of 5 different extras, and they can be added or removed in LSC through the "flip glitch".
(If spreadsheet is broken below, use this LINK instead).

(Sheet by WildBrick142 from GTAF)

F1 Wheels:

F1 wheels are special wheels, which are only available for F1 cars. However, through merging, you can add these specific wheels to any vehicle which is allowed inside the Arena mod shop.
If there are specific wheels which you want on a car, and don't want to merge with the F1 car again, this sheet should help you out a little.
(If spreadsheet is broken below, use this LINK instead. If images are broken, blame the Google Sheet format).

Obtaining a donor car with as many unique features as possible:

Se7enSins member Mighty Zeus Mighty Zeus has created this thread here: https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/th...nor-car-with-all-the-unique-features.1789573/
Following his steps will allow you to get the most out of a donor car.

Unique Performance Upgrades:

Some vehicles in GTA Online can have unique performance upgrades on them; Super Transmission, Super Brakes, and Super Engine*.
However, not all vehicles support the Super upgrades; for example, if you merge a PR4's Super Transmission and Super Brakes onto a Tornado, the Tornado will have its transmission and brakes reverted back to 0 - this happens because the Tornado has no 5th upgrade slot for them.

* = The Sultan RS, among a few dozen vehicles, are the only vehicles in GTA V that supports a 5th engine upgrade (nicknamed "Super Engine") - this upgrade cannot be obtained legitimately on PS4/Xbox One, and has to be modded into the game to obtain it. You can obtain a 5th engine upgrade on Hao's Special Works vehicles on PS5/Xbox Series X|S by selecting "HSW Engine" and then use it as a "donor" vehicle.

Unique Wheels for Special Bikes:

The Chimera, Raptor, Stryder, and Rampant Rocket are one of the few vehicles in the whole game that support all wheel types; including bike and F1 wheels. You can use this advantage to get bike wheels onto a Raptor, or F1 wheels onto a Rampant Rocket.

Colour the Interiour or Accent colour:

With merging, you can obtain a uniquely coloured interiour Trim/Accent to make your cars even more unique!
Most newer vehicles support the use of interiour, and to some extent, accent colour. These colours are often the ones that determine the look of the inside of the vehicle, and are in normal terms called Trim colour and Accent colour.
However, some vehicles does not support the option to paint their Trim/Accent colour in LSC/Arena Workshop despite they actually have it as an option on their model; like the Roosevelt Valor's roofline, FCR 1000 Custom's seat and bags, Ardent, Stromberg, and many more.

SummerFreeze from GTAForums has made a thread which lists all vehicles that can have their interiour painted, but not having it as an option in LSC.

Also, I highly advise you to check out JoonasPRKL (now run by JustinR512) from GTAForums' website that shows all spawn colours for vehicles. This will help you on your way to find a specific vehicle with the right interiour Trim/Accent colour you want. This rule is also applied to when you're modding a vehicle in a Save Editor, but that's something for another thread.

Textures (Worn, Utility, Metal, ect):

Through a Save Editor and/or merging, you can obtain different kinds of reflections/textures on your car to make it more unique!
That thread is located HERE.

I'll add more to this thread when I get the time. The community is also more than welcome to contribute to the thread, as this information could never have been gathered without the dedication of the GTA fans around the world.
Have a good one until then! And again, please let me know what I should include in the thread, it will help out a ton.

Awesome! The information is layed out nicely. I might suggest adding a little bit about 3d paints etc.

You said the Vagrant us the best car for liveries. It supports up to ID 30 if I've read correctly? Are there any vehicles whatsoever that support any more?

Oh yeah, the textures! If memory serves me right, there are; classic, metallic, utility, epsilon, worn, matte, chrome, metal, brushed gold and pure gold textures - I believe the last three are the famous "3D" textures

And yes, the Vagrant as its stock form supports 30 livery ID's (aka the "set 2"). You can use the Hotring Sabre if you wish, but I personally find the Vagrant easier, and it also have a few visual customizations. The Vagrant and Hotring Sabre, along with a few other vehicles, are the only vehicles that supports 30 livery ID's, which can be equipped in LSC/Avenger Workshop.
No single vehicle supports 40 livery ID's in LSC as of yet. This is why livery ID 31 up to 40 are considered rare, as you can only get them if you unlocked a very select few of the liveries, or if you use a Save Editor and bring the vehicle(s) online.

Yeah, pure gold is the shiny 3D. And from what I've heard the epsilon based 3D colours can be made in online

So something that hasn't been brought up is the hidden, rare liveries on the Swinger and the Stafford. These are the liveries that were only available for one week at the beginning of Night Life update.
Now I do have the Swinger with the Union Jack. I'm going to merge the Swinger to the Hotring and see what # livery it is. Maybe it will be the same livery for the Stafford. Please help if anyone wants to save me some time.
Also, lefts not forget about the Christmas bow Clique. I've already merged to the Hotring and then gave my girl character the same Christmas livery from the merge after finding the livery number. Hope this helps.

Let’s make it a hat trick then... lol

If you haven’t logged in during the time leading up to the Night Life DLC those Liveries are unavailable.
This is what you do to obtain them:
  1. Count the number of Liveries the Stafford and the Swinger have including (none).
  2. Then count to the same number Livery on the Hotring Sabre/Vagrant and select the very next Livery.
  3. That will expose the hidden Livery.
  4. I forget exactly how many Liveries each of those cars have but here’s an example:
    1. Let’s say the swinger has 10 available Liveries.
    2. That means you count to the 11th selection #1 being (none) plus 10 Liveries.
    3. When you are selecting the Livery on the donor vehicle you will again count to the 11th selection and the 12th selection will be the hidden Livery.

Thank you for this thread, however I have a question:
Is it possible to only transfer the paintjob from a car to another ? I have a magic slot and as far as I know, after doing the disconnect trick, the paintjob won't stick.

Hello!
Aah yes, you're correct. I'll look into the Swinger, Stafford and Clique, thank you!

Edit: Added.

I must admit that I'm not very educated on magic slots, but through merging, you cannot just tranfer the paintjob and leave the body style. A merge will transfer everything, unfortunately in your situation :/

I thought the caracara and outlaw had no hidden liverys tho??

Looking into it, you're correct; the Caracars 6x6 and the Outlaw only supports 20 livery ID's, and it's the generic Gunrunning ones you can buy for all of them. Thanks, corrected!

This will clean a dirty dupe. I might need to start a new thread but i'll let others decide.

The car with special paint or mods and doesn't have a clean plate. (personal plates unavailable)
Just merge that car to a Mariachi Tornado drive into Moc and merge back. Custom Plates are back.Probably work with Lifeguard Granger as well.
