PS4 seems to be lifting off so what about the XBone? Whats the latest news? Anything that looks promising? Is there somewhere where I can follow news about Xbox One exploitation? Exploit dev twitters etc. Will it be exploited before the new generation? The xbox 360 was exploited not even 2 years after it was released. It's been 4 years since the Xbox one was released.

Not trying to sound like a ****. I could never do the stuff they're doing so don't take this the wrong way if it sounds like I'm being toxic.

Have a read through:

https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/xbox-one-modding-discussion.925720/

76 pages, though.

Doubt we'll ever see an XB1 that is publicly released as a mod.

I for one hope it doesn't, the 360 skidders ruined the fun so I hope the XB1 doesn't become modable.

Yes Xbox one has "Stepped up there game" but when Xbox 360 first came out they thought the same thing that it wasn't going to happen but it did, and I'm willing to bet that they eventually will come up with some hack and lead it to another xbox 360 catastrophe. Everything is crackable // modable but it takes time and learning how to get around the barrier that xbox has put up.

I do enjoy the exploitation behind it, it's interesting. But the skids are why we can't have nice things. But it can be fun with things like zombieland though
That is true, personally I mod on 360 but i only mod offline unless im 1) Livestreaming or 2) Just wanna play some custom games. but yes there are a ton of modders you run into on a daily and tbh its not worth becoming one because now its improfitable.

The entire xbox one SDK has been leaked for 4 years. If there were any exploits possible by small groups of unpaid people I feel like we would have them by now. Probably not at least until after Microsoft Releases their next big console and everyone forgets about the xbone.

Xbox one runs apps as if the app itself were the os (aka sandbox).
Using a browser exploit would be bery difficult to force an escape.
Then there is also a hyper v in the mix. And there is the thing called cloud sync. What cloud sunc does is runs the current app/os against one cached in the cloud to check for inconsistencies.
And lets not forget why most attempt hacking the sofware in the first place. And that is for development freedom. This is given away for free on the xbox one.
Everyone always tries to credit xecuter for the first hack. This is completely untrue. A software hack was the first hack on xbox 360. And it was built then later patched. This is what xecuter and anyone else using a jtag device or rgh device is using via hardware help.
And this first part of software is what is missing on the xbox one for anyone to attempt a hardware exploit. There is no public software exploit floating around that gains permissions to write in the os.
These very talented people have been given complete developer access for free and have no need to seek an alternative.
Will an exploit ever show up in the public eye? Maybe. But not all that likely. Maybe not even after the xbox -1 xyz shows up.

Could you not just disconnect the internet or do you have to be connected for every app on XBone (Don't have one)? Or could you use a MITM/DNS attack to alter/create the message that the servers will respond with to the cache check so the Xbox thinks the app is unmodified? Or send the normal, unmodified files to the cloud so the cloud thinks it's legit?

Not sure if this makes sense but :/

He's quite wrong in his response. Each app doesn't run as if it were the OS. It's the exact same way apps on Windows 10 works from the store. After checking over the console again, it does not appear that app data is even sent to Xbox Live. The only data about those apps are its name, maybe crash dat and just performance related info at most but even then pretty much nothing. Standard telemetry.

Asyncronous uwp. There is more to that then what you think.

A uwp is is very similar to being an os standalone. It can only pull dependencies from framework and other parts found in the os itself. Uwp cannot use existing parts from another uwp.
More of what I was getting at.

I think everyone is missing one big piece of the puzzle, if the xbox one were to be exploited and released publicly, there would be a extremely huge shitstorm of legal issues coming from Microsoft. Also the fact that it would be impossible to release without feds knocking down your door. Not only that but there has been exploits already, but they were all submitted to Microsofts bounty program. There was one small group who managed to exploit it and was using it for their own "personal" desires, and their houses got raided. Eventually, I would not doubt that there's an exploit that's released (safely), and modding returns, but it wont be for a very long time, so nobody should be having high hopes.

I find that hard to believe. Do you have a link to an article or something? Why would the feds get involved? Unless those 'personal desires' were illegal such as torrenting, I don't see how you could get arrested for modifying something that you own. They're not modifying a weapon or anything and there isn't a law against modifying Xboxs (I would assume, since the xbox 360 was modded) so why would the feds care that 13 year old Timmy has got god mode on GTA V?

Then what was it? You seem to have a lot of information but won't share.
It was simply a matter between individuals and Microsoft. No raids. Just a discussion alongside legal issues surrounding using unauthorized material.

Its spreading crappie propaganda like that fks this community up ! The one time someone got screwed for a exploit and there was more to it! but in short Geohot fked up and release **** like it was back in the Jailbrake community ... Doesn’t mean any one who’s got a userland exploit is getting a big fat fine.... You are bang on with the bug bounty people just sell out these days...

the thing is peiple are STILL trying to exploit a console thats already a dev kit. you need to exploit it through the dev kit setting in order to get anywhere. which no one is doing. the only people who have done it, qre not releasing how they did it. last time it was released how to hack a console, it blew up and was patched within hours.

Doesn't matter if it can be converted to dev kit or whatever. It's still possible to do a lot that's available in dev-mode in retail.

im aware. my whole point is the partition you need to access to in order to exploit it, is only open while in dev mode. other than that, the partition is closed.
