I ****ed up so big time, i have the worst luck. My disc tray on my console jams.. So i decided to pull it out(after tapping it a million times) shut off the power and let it stay open. I tried to clean the belt and gears then it SLAMMED shut smh. Oh man after that it took two hours to pry it out without breaking anything.. Then i tried 3 more hours to get the belt situated again!. (Holding a phone flashlight + an xbox console and using mediorcore tools to try and get into place while you have like 1 inch of room to work with was frustrating. I ****ed it all up. Now i have to wait longer, spend more money(My mw2 special edition xbox is flashed & i bought a drive + verbatims + adapters.

Damn, I think i am going to buy one of those tool kits to open the xbox on the back, but is their an alternative? because i can easily just run to the store and buy two torx screwdrivers.. Which ones do i need however? I know a Torx 10 and a Torx 8, some people mention a flathead but they come in different sizes. Any ideas?

I am frustrated because i don't want to damage this console & spent so much money already... i still have the ring spool saved. i actually got it in without opening the tray but somehow it slipped off.

The only problem is the drive and belt & i guess cleaning everything else works perfect. What exact tools do i use some people tell me different kits and torx and flatheads? What is the difficulty process for this? I am not a xbox guy, more of a playstation guy. But i have opened consoles before. Do i have to take apart the whole thing? Also if someone could point me in the right direction or tutorial that would be nice... I do not feel like waiting to get the opening tool when i can go to the hardware store. Can someone link me to the proper set of tools that have prime? maybe i can wait two more days.. Pics below...

IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY TO GET THE RUBBER BAND BACK IN WITHOUT OPENING THE CONSOLE, IT WOULD SAVE ME COPIOUS TROUBLE! HOWEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO FORCE THE TRAY OUT. I HAD TO USE A KNIFE & 4 PAPERCLIPS AND DIFFERENT TOOLS!

Thanks :/

You're going to need a drive belt, clean the black gunk that is on the laser rails and add a new layer of lithium grease to laser rails as well. Use rubbing alcohol with a q-tip to clean in and around the dvd drive cogs too. You'd might as well use a lightly dipped q-tip in rubbing alcohol to gently wipe the laser lens while you're at it. The dvd drive belt gets dirty and 'loosens' over time. This causes the dvd drive to get sticky and eventually gets stuck. A temporary fix is to leave a disc inside the dvd drive which lets it eject without getting stuck. But a long-term fix is necessary.

Depending on which drive model you have, you can buy a belt or set of dvd drive belts on ebay from $5-7 bucks and buy lithium grease. Open the console, open the dvd drive and clean the innards.

I opened the drive and cleaned it and fixed it!! and replaced the belt

Look at this please, will it not fit because these clips are bent? or are they already like this

*there is tape on a piece that broke off but it is perfectly aligned, before it even broke off this wouldn't clip on.. Would crazy gluing that piece in the exact location + bending the other clips straight work?

I can only get this far:

No way in the world am i gonna find a replacement(anyone know a site?).. i followed the video. But i think its because of the two bent clips on the left side & i taped a piece that came off (perfect position) but maybe i should position it with crazy glue

It looks like the second bottom clip (smallest one near the xbox 360 word logo) is broken but you can simply add super glue or hot glue. I'd say hot glue first if you have it (comes off with rubbing alcohol applied) but if not then you can use super glue. Add the glue to the top innards where dvd tray is tucked into and add pressure while the glue dries for 10 mins. The bezel has to fit in properly when the dvd drive pulls the disc tray back in.
