How can I put my PS3 PHAT back on Official Firmware?

Back in December(2017) I got caught up in the hype of jailbreaking consoles. All of the "FREE PS3 GAMES" stuff convinced me that Jailbreaking the console would be for the better. Unfortunately, just like with real advertisements, there was a few extras that were never mentioned when it was pitched. I didn't know how headache inducing downloading/installing all of those free games would be - especially since I'm brand new at it.

I just want to revert back to OFW so I don't need to worry about console banning and don't need to worry about bricking the console - unfortunately, most tutorials are rather old and I question how well the hold up.

Care to help a n00b out?

Simply go to settings > system update and update via internet. If that doesn’t work then simply download the most recent official firmware from the Sony website, put the file on your USB and then update via storage media.

To put the file on your USB create a folder named PS3 on the root of your USB and inside the PS3 folder create a folder called UPDATE then place the official firmware you downloaded from the Sony website inside the UPDATE folder.

Is it really that simple? I mean, I did have to dumb it down prior to the jailbreak.

I simply just install the latest OFW?

Sorry to bug you again but I got a message that told me I'm already running the latest version. I know for a fact that I'm jailbroken, so what do I do now?
If that doesn’t work then go ahead and format the HDD using a computer and then when you plug it back into your console it’ll ask you to install the firmware.

How do I do that? I'm a noob.
If you don’t how to do that, you could try booting the console into the recovery menu first and clicking option five ( restore PS3 system ). If that doesn’t work then I’d recommend looking up a YouTube tutorial on how to format a PS3 HDD using a PC.

Hiya everyone I’m having this same issue i tried following the tutorials for jailbreaking my ps3. It’s a little nerve wrecking so I want to go back to the original ps3. I have rebug on my ps3 and it seems to override everything. But nothing works no psn no actually ps3 disc I have. How can I unjail break and put it back to its original state. I’ve ran the system restore options and so for I gone and deleted all my save files and downloaded games. My wife is going to lose it when she finds that I lost all of sons baby pics. What can I do to unjailbreak this system?

Just go to sony website, download latest OFW, copy it to USB Flash drive (Make folder PS3, then inside another called UPDATE and put the file into the UPDATE folder) there you go.
