I don't know about you but I wasn't all that hype for Destiny 2. I was afraid it would be more of the same and a painful grind after the first month or so AND would be plagued with problems like the first one. Reading up a bit on it in the week before it was released I decided to give it a shot as I loved the original game [as much as it could be loved]. I am very pleased to say that it was a solid gamble! The game is awesome, literally overflowing with content and story [both missing from the first one]. There's certainly a grind to be had but its far more interesting and with much more variety, it'll have far more replay value over time, even without the stream of DLC I expect for the game over the next year(s).

I'm creating this thread as a place to learn more about other player's experience within the game to help others enrich their own game play!

-What characters are you running? Power levels, build strats etc...
-Tip/Tricks you've noticed to help young guardians on their quest for raid readiness?
-Spots you're aware of with especially delicious loot?
-Likes/Dislikes?

The game is better than I thought it would be, campaign was WAY better than the original. Shader microtransactions I don't really care about all that much don't know why people are outraged. The silver thing is meh, I could earn all that stuff just by doing heroic public events and strikes. Overall Destiny 2 is a good experience for me. They fixed everything that the original destiny didn't have but people still aren't pleased. The way Bungie delivered the game gave me memories of how they handled Halo 3. Looking forward to the future DLC that this game will bring.
For players new to the game I HIGHLY recommend to farm farm farm the hell out of public events! They actually have very good loot and me being a solo player for the whole game it helped me a ton.

Definitely. Yea the shader thing is a bit annoying but more of a nuisance than an issue and the game itself more than makes up for this in other way I'm happy to say. The loot is also WAY more plentiful. Lol the 1st game was super stingy with loot, glad they decided to do away with that model. I also like that the off-story missions have some substance and tie in with the main story, even they are mostly kill and collects/scan w/ ghost.

Agree on all counts. The campaign was excellent, clearly defined the antagonist and his motives. Left a lot of open ends for continuation of the story leading into the upcoming Raid (the Exodus Black adventure on Nessus was very interesting as far as the Cabal hierarchy and future big bads) and the mad scientist guy really points towards future DLC.

Initially I was pissed at the shader change, but I've gotten quite a few different shader drops just from chests, as well as Bright Engrams, that it's just more of a nuisance. I just know what the default shader of everything I have now will look like.

One thing I think was big step back was how simplified they made the subclass skill trees. You basically have a choice between grenades, jumps, and then "Way of the..." 1, and "Way of the... 2. I especially noticed it with the Voidwalker. Gone is the Black hole perk. Gone is the damage bleed perk that will damage all tethered. I'm hoping it will all play well as all of the agility/armor/endurance are tied to armor perks now instead of the skill tree.

Overall, I'm loving it. The Tripod modifier made the Nightfall especially challenging. My clan will have to level up a bit more before we successfully tackle that. We tried last night at 239, 245, & 249 and almost got the boss down to half. Second try was even worse. Tonight will be different...

Yea the story was pretty great all around, a bit melo dramatic at times but they were try to setup the gravity of the situation and tug at some emotional heart strings, I get it. Definitely makes it easier to feel more invested in the characters and it lets you get immersed in the game instead of just farming/completing tasks.

Yea I'm not in love with the new subclasses I think somewhere in the middle between D1 and 2 would've been good as there was nothing wrong with the D1 subclasses IMO. Now they do feel a bit lighter, maybe with the same number of choices for each but in the simplified tree form would've been a solid place to leave it. I love how they've made the classes more versatile though, striker titan, solar warlock [tho i miss self res], it seems like all 3 classes are viable for each character in their own ways for PVE and PVP.

Haven't tried to nightfall yet but alot of people I know struggled with it, most likely because its the first one and people are still trying to get the hang of the new mechanics/levels/setups/bosses etc... I plan to try it tonight hopefully, my warlock is currently stuck at 260. I'm not too worried about the rat quest atm, tbh I just want some good 260+ drops.
