Hi,

So I'm helping a friend crop some clothing out of some pictures for his clothes shop, but he's taking the photos of the clothes on his table which is annoying, I'm fine with most of the stuff, however there's a few I'm unsure about how to do them. See the example:

Cropping the dress out is perfectly easy, it's just the bottom bit stays very brown due to the net type material of the dress. Is there any way I can remove it completely without affecting the dress?

Your friend should buy a bright green posterboard to place his items on, the color range feature in photoshop will allow you to easily crop out the background.

Here is how you would go about doing that.

They've got like a studio type thing for taking images, but his mrs doesn't like using it, don't ask me why, so that's how she takes the photos on that table. She's done around 600 like this and I'm helping them remove it. Most of them are easy to do, but there's quite a few like the above image and I'm struggling to do them and they're not wanting to re-take the pictures, making it a huge pain for me... Anything else you can suggest?

Do you happen to have a higher res version of it? I can try some stuff out, I don't remember the exact process but if I could work hands on with it I might be able to figure it out.
I'd also suggest looking up some hair selection tutorials on youtube as the process should be similar.

I did watch a few hair selection tutorials thinking it may work, not had chance to try them out yet. But to answer your question here is a high res version:

There is ways of getting the table removed but out of all the methods mentioned I think it would be so much quicker to explain the problem to your friend and just retake the pictures on a nice background or even hang the clothes on a nail on a nice solid colored wall in the house.

The only thing I could suggest that would possibly work is cropping the skirt out, adding a new layer in Photoshop (assuming that's what you're using) set to color blend mode, painting over the brown parts to match the rest of the skirt, then maybe use a low opacity eraser to create a light transparency on the appropriate parts. If my wacom had a wire, I'd try it out for you, but unfortunately won't be getting a new one until next week.
