Hi guys,

we are close to character transfer deadline and i'm sure many of us want to take the maybe last chance and create some unique 3D paintjobs. The problem with those paintjobs is that only a modder can create them and so not everybody is able to do it. But if you get a modded account you usually have to stick with the 3D paint you get.

Here (Click me) is a thread how to safely make changes to existing 3D paintjobs. The trick only works for cars with secondary paint option, the secondary colored parts will loose the 3D paint so it might work on some cars but not look good as too big parts are changed. But some cars have only very little parts with secondary paint like the FMJ where only the brakes change.

So there are 3 or 4 classes of secondary paint: Cars without option (Impossible), cars with only non body parts (Perfect), cars with stand alone body parts (OK), cars with huge parts (Not good)

I started a list in a public google doc: GTA V: Change 3D paint with secondary color

Car Secondary paint Good for 3D
Adder strips on hood, spoiler Perfect
Banshee 900R stripe over car OK
Burger Shot Stallion No option at all Not good

Dukes window border, wheel border Perfect
Elegy Retro roof, hood, back OK

ET-R1 brakes, roll cage, side Perfect
Furore GT From hood over roof to trunk. Not good
Grotti Cheetah can't find part but has option Perfect
Italy GTB nothing with correct parts Perfect
Lynx Mirrors, roll cage, stripes on roof OK
Mamba roof, sideblades Ok
Mamba Cabrio sideblades Perfect
Mascaro Race rollcage Perfect
Mesa rollbars Perfect
Nero whole back Not good
Nero Custom back part of car Not good
Omnis interior Perfect
Omnis rollcage, interior Perfect
Osiris roof, sides Not good
Penetrator has no secondary color option at all Impossible
Pfister 811 roof, back window Not good
Phoenix stripes Ok
RE-7B bars at back of car Perfect
Reaper engine cover Perfect
Seven-70 has no secondary color option at all Impossible
Specter can't find part but has option Perfect
Spectre Custom brakes Perfect
Sprunk Buffalo rollcage Yes
Sultan roof, hood OK
T20 side blades, sides Perfect

I can not find the post anymore but here is a video: (Media)

Here's the thread : https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/how-to-safely-make-changes-to-your-modded-3d-cars.1616696/

I'll take a look through later and see if we can get a list together. . . I'll report back.

It IS possible to change the front of a Nero but the back will be classic. I changed a worn one to pure black. Front is 'satin', rear is gloss. Still looks good in that colour but your choice. Rather than listing it as "No" maybe it should read "not good".
The same can be said for many. The Elegy is an example of one I'd NOT do. The roof & hood are secondary. The change from one finish to another there is too harsh.

It's also worth noting that many cars have primary or secondary options separately for things like roof / bumpers. What may initially look like a bad one can turn out okay.
Take the roof off a Pfister 811, change the skirts & then only the rear exhaust bit & window frame changes to classic.

The list therefore should just list vehicles that have secondary as an option. Maybe mark them as good or bad ones for the change. I don't see the need to list the likes of the Tyrus as it only has primary paint.

Thanks but don't hope for too much from me. Once my mates are on I'll stop checking them out.
I'll list what I find when I find them & you can lift them from my post. In fact. Instead of posting further, I'll list them in this post (by way of editing) & add to it bit by bit.

There are three kind of cars,

1. no secondary paint. not possible to change 3D
2. has secondary paint but changing it will ruin the look of the car as one half will turn to a normal paintjob
3. has secondary paint only on "non body" parts like brakes, rollbars.
I'll list them as 1,2 or 3 then.

Itali GTB - 3 - Calipers?
Omnis - 3 - Interior / rollcage.
Verlierer - 3 - Calipers.
Zentorno - 3 - Can show or be hidden.

Pfister 811 - 2 - Can limit the damage with bodywork options.
Furore GT - 2 - From hood over roof to trunk.
Tempesta - 2 - Hood, roof, skirts.
Osiris - 2 - Roof & skirts.
T20 - 2 - Side panels.
Comet - 2 - Roof.
Elegy/s - 2 - Roof & hood - Can limit with carbon goods.
Sultan - 2 - Roof & hood.
Turismo R - 2 - Roof - Can be carbon.

We can't list every single car in the game and estimate the size of it's secondary colour, even if we could go through them all, you are still limited by which cars you own in 3D, which of those have a small secondary colour area.... Just stick to things like the Zentorno or 9F, don't mess with cars that have a large secondary. If you don't want to drive them to the mod shop, leave them be?

Sure we could list all cars and what parts a secondary color. But we don't even need all. Only the nice/rare/cool ones are enough. The more we get together the better...

And at the moment we still can get them all in 3D - till 6th of march! That's why I started this...

Yes it is possible on a Nero but it is personal taste if you still like it. I don't think it looks good but agree that we should change the classification. All my Elegys for example have secondary painted in black because i think it looks much better. I now list them both as possible. The Nero as "not good" the Elegy as "OK" - we might need to discuss this further lol. Cars with very little parts like only brakes, rollbars/cage i are listed as perfect and car without option as impossible.

Nice, rare and cool are totally subjective terms, that would be a matter of opinion.

This breaks down really simple.

If your car is 3D, is the secondary color the same finish as the primary? DON'T CHANGE
If your car is 3D, and has no secondary...DON'T CHANGE.
If your car is 3D, if the secondary is a different color or finish, you can change the secondary, to apply color to the primary.

Should you mess something up, close app immediately, and the changes won't save. Regardless of what parts get colored or not....these are the 3 basic rules to change/alter your 3D cars. If a secondary paint has the primary finish, you must pick between the finish or the the color. The rest is up to taste...which I see lots of white wall tires, dollar sign rims, and pastel Easter colors on super cars....so yes...to quote sweedy sweedy , "Nice, rare and cool are totally subjective terms, that would be a matter of opinion." totally holds water!!!
