Need both of these. Wired, no wireless. I'd prefer the keyboard to have custom LED's like the chroma ones, but not sure which one to get, and not willing to spend over $150 for the pair of the two (mouse and key). Gaming oriented peripherals.

So, you want an RGB keyboard? Or just one that's backlit?

$10 over if you go with the cheaper mouse. Or, you can spend the extra $25 or so on the M65 PRO if you want a bigger, better mouse. The Xornet is fine though. All RGB.

You're not going to get an RGB keyboard that's half decent for less than $130-$140. If you NEED kb+mouse under $150, you have to sacrifice RGB on the keyboard(at least).

There's a pretty decent rgb keyboard from Zalman, the K900M, it's also on sale right now on massdrop for 80$

It's decent. Nowhere near as good as Cherry MX switches but if he really wants rgb, that would be a decent option.
Kailh switches are terrible. I'm sure the build quality of the keyboard is fine, Zalman keyboard's weren't terrible, WHEN they used Cherry MX switches. Anything with Kailh switches pretty much isn't worth it. They over-charge as well because they're "mechanical switches" but Kailh switches aren't worth anywhere near the price keyboards with Kailh switches sell for.

Real men buy MX Blues.

Don't be racist, all Cherry MX switches are good!

I proposed that keyboard as an alternative if he really wants an RGB keyboard. They're not TERRIBLE, just nowhere near as good as Cherry MX switches.

It's really not worth it though IMO. He could get a keyboard with Cherry MX switches for the same price, just non RGB and that would be a MUCH wiser decision. Kailh switches feel horrific, and the build quality just isn't anywhere near the same. There's honestly no point buying an expensive keyboard, unless you're getting Cherry MX switches that are decent, otherwise just spend like $20-$30 on a placeholder keyboard or something.

Meh, MX Blues are my favourite. I've not used Browns, but I hear they're similar to MX Blues, just quieter. I have however used Cherry MX Reds, and a few others. Also, tried out Romer-G's on one of Logitech's newer keyboards, and I absolutely hated the feeling of other MX switches(apart from Blues), and I couldn't stand Romer-G's.

Opinions on this combo? It's a little over $150, but it has RGB, chicklet keys how I like, and palm rest. I'd be getting the Chroma versions that is. But my question is, is Razer reliable? I get they may be overpriced, but I do like name brand in some cases. Or is their gear not really worth it? I don't know much about Razer Thanks for the help folks!

Keyboard: Razer DeathStalker Chroma - Multi-Color RGB Membrane Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma - Multi-Color Ergonomic Gaming Mouse - 10,000 DPI Sensor

The Deathadder is a great mouse but for 85$ it's a bit on the expensive side of mouses. The DeathStalker is not even a mechanical keyboard. I would not recommend.

Razer keyboards suck. People who own Razer keyboards will probably deny this, but that's because they have no experience with proper mechanical keyboards. Razer mice are decent, but over priced. I suggested two significantly cheaper RGB mice.

What do you mean by mechanical keyboards?

EDIT: Nvm, I read up on it. I'm used to a membrane keyboard on my laptop for 3+ years, mechanical and otherwise feel bulky and big to me haha.
