My friend can push any vehicle, I don't know how he does it, you can be in an SUV, him in a sport, and he can push you. He won't tell me how he does it, HOW?
Also, you two can be in the exact same car, no upgrades, he can push, how does he do this????

Well, it isn't a glitch. It's probably just what he is doing. He could be holding down both the gas and brake to do a burnout then lets go of the brake which gives you a little boost when you accelerate and that's why he can push you ? Honestly not sure, his car is more than likely upgraded.

No, we went into a race with custom vehicles turned off, chose the same car and he could still blow me backwards, we face each other, bumpers touching, do a countdown, and start, and he just keeps bumping into me and it launches me back.

I don't even want to play sumo with my friends when he plays because it's just such an un-fair advantage and he won't tell anyone and won't play a game without doing it.

I believe it's easier to push a car from the front than the back. Have you tried letting him hit your vehicle from the back while you attempt to reverse / stop ? I doubt he would be able to push you then. Or he could possibly be starting a little bit earlier than you and if he starts pushing you first, there is no way you'll be able to come back and push him.

It's like little bumps/taps but it still just shoves me back and I have to turn my analog stick to even get out of it or else it will keep pushing me backwards.

Yea I think I know exactly what you're talking about, it's almost like he pushes you far ahead and since there is a little space in-between he rams your car and just keeps doing it over and over ?

Nope, he can still push me no problem from the back, and no, most of the time in sumo I smack into him, then he reverses and starts pushing into me sending me backwards, it's so annoying.

Actually the correct way to do this is to not hold your gas all the way down. I believe it's something to do with traction when not flooring the car all the way down. It's also a good way to go up steep hills/slopes on the game. The next time your friend challenges you, make sure when you're flooring the gas you're not pressing the button all the way down.

On PS4, R2 is a pushable button rather than a clickable button so I'm assuming Xbox one has a similar button.

Yeah

I do that all the time to my friend . All I do is hit the gas and start pushing him before he gets to push back and I'm always able to out push him .

This. Throttle control is a big thing in GTA, as any racer knows.

OT: Yeah, throttle control is it. This can easily be seen in the muscle class like the Rat Truck. Floor it from the stopped position and your rear will swing around...less throttle will allow a smooth and quick takeoff. Also apparent when climbing hills, less throttle is more climbing power. All about that torque baby.
