What are you currently using? Go with that.

IMO 7 is better because I am not new to it and I don't like Windows 8 very much. However, there are many new features that are beneficial to gamers.

im using windows 8 on my laptop, but i dont know which one to decide like them both, i like the idea of the start screen on windows 8, its easy to organise, but i also like the little pop up for windows 7 when clicking the home button

We all have to make compromises. The start screen on Windows 8 is the first thing you'd see, so if it's aesthetics you want then go with Windows 8.

They are both faster in different areas but 7 is best for gaming IMO.
ah tough choices, windows 10 is like a mixture of both for looks from what i've seen, but that might be a while until its released,

You can download the technical preview but it ends in a week.

I was on windows 8.1 but went back to windows 7, it seems to perform better for gaming. Which is what I primarily use my desktop for.

Windows 8.1 is far superior on gaming anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they are talking about. The only downside to windows 8 is you wanna download a start menu alternative cuz metro sucks but u don't need to use metro.

I hate metro but love W8 on my older PC I had a really weak system and gaming was far superior on W8 on my new rig its a bit less noticeably except DX11 games like Warframe which actually have some multithreading I get way better performance on W8 than 7 something about Window 7 having ****** CPU managment or something I believe.

I use Windows 8.1 and still love it more than Windows 7. I don't see how Windows 7 is faster than Windows 8.1 in gaming as I do have a All-in-One in my room that works fine on High spec'd games.

Performance all around is far better on windows 8 and on 8.1 its even better. OP should go with Windows 8.1, its the most updated and supported. It performs better and the metro stuff can be removed with a little customization. Honestly I have been using it for awhile now and can't see myself getting back onto windows 7.

Not all round, granted it has better support but it's down to personal preference.

I've been using Windows 8 since the RTM came out originally. At first it was a little bit to get used to, but I cannot stand Windows 7 anymore.
