I live in Canada so CAD will be in use. I could always get things imported from the USA but I would prefer not to do that.

I am in need of a new computer and I figured it might as well be my time to build one. I'll get some things out of the way regarding my build.

Budget - $800 - $1000 but I doubt it will go that high considering what I plan to use it for.

Uses - I'll probably just be using this for regular, every-day things with the occasional video editing and lots of Photoshop. I don't think I will be using it to game a lot though, maybe a few little games like Garry's Mod etc but nothing to big. I would still like the PC to be pretty quick though.

Time frame - Honestly, I could buy the parts anywhere from now to July or August. I'm not really in a huge rush to get this done.

Part preferences - Don't really care, just want the build to be reliable.

Colour code - I just don't want it looking butt ugly lol.

Monitors and other peripherals- I am looking for a dual monitor setup. The monitors don't have to be ultra high resolution or anything since I won't be gaming but they should still be of a nice HD quality. I would like a decent mouse and decent keyboard that preferably doesn't make a lot of noise when you press down on the keys. The mouse can be wired or wireless, doesn't matter.

If I missed anything just ask me in a reply.

$750~ - Next Gen Exterminator: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jKm3vK or Intel http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bzc423

$1000~ - Next Gen Destroyer: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jv42zy

Something along those lines.
Yeah that Next Gen Exterminator is pretty good but the thing is that I live in Canada. The 960 is only around $100 in the USA but here it costs around $250 according to PC part picker. I guess I could get it shipped in from the USA though. Another thing about that 960, is it possible to get a card that's a little more lower end than that? If not it's still cool. Do you have any recommendations for the monitor, mouse and keyboard?

So, the first thing you will need, is to make sure every part you get is a different colour.

Just kidding  I like the 2 builds denz denz replyed with. If i had the money, i would do one of those

You should've mentioned CAD not $ then... I'll look at it, in the morning...

It's about $10 over budget. The 8 thread Xeon will blow any of the AM3+ CPUs out of the water for your needs. It will handle editing/rendering like you wouldn't believe. GTX 960 is the perfect card for you IMO. It will handle less demanding games ezpz, but you still have enough power for playable FPS on AAA titles, if you choose. For mouse and keyboard, any cheap combo will do. Rubber dome keyboards will be quieter than mechanical anyway IMO so just grab whatever.

For monitor, this is your only option IMO;

Good quality IPS panel on the cheap. Own one, wouldn't trade it for any other monitor right now. If you need 2 monitors within your $1k budget, I can move some stuff about.

Is that in CAD? Also I would like the monitors to be included in the 1k budget.

It is. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/tkmWwP
A little over budget with only 4GB RAM. 270 is fine for you, it will handle games on high-ultra at 1080p. i5 is better than the 6300 for you, but the Xeon would be better. Also, no SSD, but you need to make some sacrifices to get 2x monitors within budget. Add another 4GB RAM and an SSD asap.

I don't need an SSD but I could go for the 8GB of RAM. Also the Graphics card you linked me only has 1 HDMI and VGA and 2 of DVI-I, how would I get it running on 2 monitors? I could also get some cheaper monitors myself and isn't that processor a little much? I won't be playing any games other than the occasional Garry's Mod or something and the rendering and video editing won't be too frequent either since it's just a little hobby.

Use one DVI-1 and get a DVI-D to I adaptor for the second monitor.

The AOC monitors are better than those Acer ones, trust me. IPS panel>TN panel. You don't need 2 HDMI for dual monitors, use an HDMI and a DVI, DVI is still HD.

Yeah but 8GB of RAM > the difference between a TN and IPS. That Acer looks great(I own one).

Honestly, I'd take less RAM and a better panel any day. At least you can easily add RAM on the cheap, but to change to 2 better panels would be a significant cost. I would never switch back to a TN panel, seriously, the colour levels are terrible and so are the viewing angles. TN panels make me want to vomit tbh  I'm sure it looks alright, but if you used the AOC panel, I'm confident you wouldn't want to switch back.

He mentioned he is going to be doing photo shop and video editing. Both of which hog ram. 8GB > Panel for his purposes.

Actually my 8350 scores higher than the Xeon 1230 / 1231 v3 cpus at it's current overclock. So no, the xeon isn't better than the 83xx cpus when they are overclocked to a decent speed. I'm only at 4.7 now mind you, my cpu can do 5.0 @ 1.445 volts however for my purposes it's unconventional so 4.7 is fine.

At stock clocks the 8350 scores 100 points more than the 1230v3 on passmark, while my overclocked one scores over a thousand better than the 1230v3. And considering the xeons are non oc-able that places the 8350 higher. The render times on my cpu are better as well.
The 8320 is 800 points below the 1230v3 however when overclocked to 4-4.5 (it's standard oc with air cooling) will be OVER 9000 (no pun) on passmark just like the 8350 is.

I know the extra RAM would be useful for him, but if he's able to add another 4GB RAM pretty soon, it'd be worth getting the better panels IMO. I'd happily sacrifice RAM for better monitors. The 8350 has 8 slower cores, as opposed to the Xeon's 8 stronger threads. In real world situations, the Xeon would pull ahead. An i7 would be better than the 8350, and an E3-1230 V3 is just a 4770 with no iGPU. The 8350 does overclock like a ****ing pro to be fair.

Well just saying the 8350 scores higher which is better proof than just saying one is better than the other. So lol. And it's a 4770 at much MUCH lower clocks.

1230 V3 is 3.3GHz, 4770 is 3.5GHz. They perform almost exactly the same. Actual real world render times will be better on a Xeon than an 8350.
