Getting There
This is a tutorial on how to SSH your iPhone, iPod, iPad
You will need a jailbroken iDevice to do this.
What is SSH? Secure Shell or SSH is a network protocol that allows data to be exchanged using a secure channel between two networked devices. The two major versions of the protocol are referred to as SSH1 or SSH-1 and SSH2 or SSH-2. Used primarily on Linux and Unix based systems to access shell accounts, SSH was designed as a replacement for Telnet and other insecure remote shells, which send information, notably passwords, in plaintext, rendering them susceptible to packet analysis.[1] The encryption used by SSH is intended to provide confidentiality and integrity of data over an unsecured network, such as the Internet. So lets get started.
Open Cydia.
Type in OpenSSH.
Install like a normal package on Cydia.
Once installed, wait for around 35 to 45 seconds for OpenSSH to generate keys.
Once that is downloaded, your finished with your iPhone for now.
Download this program called WinSCP
Once WinSCP is downloaded open it and install it.
When WinSCP is open you will see the log on process
For the Host Name you type the IP Address of your iDevice which you can get by going into Settings> Wi-Fi > then select your hosts name.
On the iDevice the Username and the Password is usually the same.
The credentials are:
Once connecting it will say:
If it does not connect redo the whole process or wait for the iDevice to generate keys.
If done correctly you should see something similar to this:
If you see that over this text. Then you sucessfully SSH'd your iDevice. If you have any questions leave in the comments below.
