Hopefully somebody can help me with this issue I'm having. I recently got an issue with my xbox 360 slim where my disc tray had an open tray problem. I tried to fix that particular disc tray but couldn't get I to work in the long run. I then used a disc tray from one of my broken Xbox and installed it into mine. I plug in my xbox and I try and play a game and it give me a black screen and disconnects me. Then it sends me to the dashboard and signs me back on. If anybody could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!

The tray or the whole DVD drive? The drives are matched to each console and can't be swapped with out changing the keys.

I took out the whole drive! You can't inter change them? Is there a video that shows how to change the keys?

You will need some tools, to include soldering things more them likely. What is the model number of the drive? It's probably easier to cha he the laser on your original drive.
