Discussion xbox hard drive on dvd rom ide

hi guys is it pos to put a big hard drive on my dvd rom ide on my soft modded box so as to leave the stock 8gb hhd alone i know i can put a bigger one on instead of the 8gb hhd but i will be using my xbox for xbmc not for games i have two dvd players so dont need the drive

if it is possible by putting a power splitter on would it show the full amount of space on the D drive or would the drive have to be partitioned into two drives on a pc first

cant find anything on the net about this idea, please help

there is no reason this shouldent work but im not positive also you would need to get a bios that disables checking if the cd drive is there (weather with modchip or tsop)
