So my room-mate gave me a 360 that was rrod. (After quite a bit of tinkering and cleaning I got in moderately good working order, compare to what it was). All the errors its given are near the bottom of the post, along with what I attempted to do to get rid of them.

I am unable to install Any games to the Hard Drive (tried 2 hard drives, along with a dashboard update (Console isn't modded, *yet*)).

Anyway while in the middle of Installing a game to hard drive, It gives the error "Can't Read this Disc. It may be Scratched or Dirty. Clean the disc with a soft cloth and try again." Now I did get it to install once, successfully (I then proceeded to delete the installed data as I don't want it to work 1/25 attempts).

I've swapped the disc drives main board to a disc drive in better condition (Which is the only time it successfully installed).

My room-mate mentioned he got it from one of his friends who said something was wrong with the hard drive. I have yet to see any Actual problem with the hard drive, although the installing game does seem to be an issue.

If anyone has any thoughts on whats going on with it let me know, because aside from doing reflow/reball I'm out of ideas (and Reflow/Reball are not an option for me). I might try doing another dashboard update to the latest version (since that fixed some of its other issues).

------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the list of Error codes its gone through, to the best of my memory. From first sighting to last sighting (they jumped back and forth a few times but letting the console heat up and cool down generally gave a different error):

E17:0101 USB port (bridged pins)
Jiggled USB Port.
Next Boot:
------------------------------------------------------------
E10:0022 Bridged solder joint/Short GPU-> (H)ANA
Let Console run for a minute with fan unplugged.
Next Boot:
------------------------------------------------------------
E68:1010 Broken Harddrive(DMA)
Removed Heatsync from southbridge, and Let console run for a few minutes. Also adjusted DVD Drive cables which had caused the heatsync to become loose.
Next Boot:
------------------------------------------------------------
E79:1033 Broken Harddrive(Xam.xex)
Jiggled hard Drive and attempted reboot:
------------------------------------------------------------
E71:1013 Dashboard update error (NAND related)
Applied Moderate amount of compressed air to console, and Cleaned bottom of motherboard of any and all dust.
Next Boot:
------------------------------------------------------------
E79:1033 Broken Harddrive(Xam.xex)
Reattached Heatsync to Southbridge, and detached dvd drive.
Let xbox cool down for a few hours and rebooted:
------------------------------------------------------------
It jumped between E10:0022 and the above errors multiple times (until after I loosened the motherboard)
E10:0022 Bridged solder joint/Short GPU-> (H)ANA
Loosened the Screws holding the motherboard in place (About 1 full rotation to loosen, Screws were as tight as I could get them by hand). After this the console started booting up about 30-50% of the time, and locking up about 10-20 minutes in. I let it run the dashboard for a few hours.
Let the console alone for about 12 hours after loosening the screws.
------------------------------------------------------------

E10:0022 Bridged solder joint/Short GPU-> (H)ANA
This one lasted a while, Im not sure how it was fixed. However the xbox was booting 50% of the time at this point (didn't have it crash in 8 hours of running the dashboard, once it actually got to the dashboard), and I could launch games. I wanted to provoke any errors while the console was running so I attempted to load Halo 4 (which needed a dashboard update) after being fairly confident the console wasn't going to Kill itself in the middle of an update, I ran the update.

------------------------------------------------------------

Since then I have only seen 1 RROD (In about 4 days, of periodic use)
E74:1022 Cold solder joint under GPU- (H)ANA

The CPU has had the X-clamp Fix applied to it (not by me, so I'm not sure when it was applied). Xbox Hardware Type is Xenon (However it has a different heatsync attached to the CPU, (Seems like it was replaced by a Zephyr heatsync).
------------------------------------------------------------

The only Major issues I've experienced (Since Seeing Last RROD):
Some HDD Games seem to be "corrupt" and return to dashboard a few minutes into launching (But sometimes launch fine). Others will load 100% of the time and seem to be fully playable.
------------------------------------------------------------

When The harddrive is Inserted, Sometimes the console will freeze during what appears to be autosaves (Audio will continue, but Input and graphics lock up). This only Happens when the Hard drive is inserted.
------------------------------------------------------------

Unable to Install Games to hard drive, Get Error "Can't read this disc. It may be scratched or dirty. Clean the disc with a soft cloth and try again."
But the same disc can be installed on my room-mates Newish xbox fine.

Note: It seems like the longer the console is left running, the Faster it will Give the error (EG: Fresh boot, after 6-12 hours of Inactivity. Progress bar can get as high as 89%. however If I immediately try again, It will usually error with 20%. Try again after that and it rarely gets past 10%. If I leave the xbox running for a while not doing anything It will fail usually within 30 seconds of attempting to install)
------------------------------------------------------------

Again Looking for any advice, I have a bunch of dead 360's all are Xenons (And one that's not "Dead" but has its own set of issues).

PS:Anything that requires me to fully pull out the motherboards (remove the black screws), I am currently unable to do, as my Screwdriver set is garbage and all the small heads are stripped (they just cylinder shaped bits of metal, that's what I get for 2$ screwdriver). So basically I only have access to the top of the motherboards.

Update: Just noticed a new error I receive after booting/selecting profile. If I have Auto-Launch set to true, and it attempts to boot "halo 4" the console will give an error telling me to redownload the game. If I then launch it from the dashboard, It loads up fine.

Update 2: Lol 5 Minutes after posting this I Pulled out my Hard drive, and booted to
E71:1013 Dashboard update error (NAND related)
Stupid Red Blinking Light, Go away.

Update 3: Seems I only get the Nand Error when a disc is in the drive while booting? Weird Combo... seems to be doing it about 50% of the time, when a disc is inserted.

Update 4: After a bit more reading on the different errors, Im guessing there's a cold joint on the southbridge Probably due to the stupid heatsync that was half off the chip due to the DVD drive putting pressure on it. If someone knows which pin might cause the E71 Error Let me know, I plan to take a good hard close up look at any of the pins.
Maybe if I see the issue I can rig up a mirror, and a magnifying glass to reheat the solder and fix the cold joint, if that is indeed what it is, (it would be nice if the error code guides out there were more in depth)

I think you're talking about the ANA chip, not the SB.

My advice: Ditch the console and get a new one! Why, you may ask...
The CPU has had the X-clamp Fix applied to it
A bad, temporary fix which can cause more damage than it fixes.
Xbox Hardware Type is Xenon
Xenons the least reliable motherboards found in 360s, and are ~12 years old.

Ya I know, But I don't got the Money (I mean I pulled my 360's apart using a 2$ screwdriver kit...), I do however have a desire to get a working 360. And I thought the errors were due to the SB but I don't know my stuff well enough yet, I'l have to take another look at it later. Hopefully the ANA chip is easy to access...

Anyway I'm not sure how the ana chip would be effecting HDD/DVD...
another note: There hasn't been any graphical Glitches at all.
