Unsolved Xbox 360 Disc drive not reading discs

I recently got a phat black falcon xbox 360 from 2008, everything works fine except it doesnt want to read discs sometimes hitting it works but very rarely, I'm looking to replace the disc drive and I would like to know if I need a specific disc drive or can I buy any disc drive used for xbox 360s, also it makes a weird noise when inserting a disc, and the error I get is the Open Tray error, I would like to know if there is a way to fix that if I dont find a replacment

You would either need to replace the whole disk drive which has its own caveats or just replace the optical sensor in the drive itself. Either way it will be a sort of involved process.

If the drives problem is with struggling to read discs and there's no other issue with it,just replace the laser assembly in the drive.So much easier to do than swapping out drives.
What make is the DVD drive,by the way ?If it's an Hitachi or a Samsung drive,they are known to be a pain with reading discs as the console ages.
You could also google Xbox 360 laser pot adjustment and give that a try.
