I have a Macbook and have been thinking about bootcamping it with win7 for a while, and I have already downloaded Windows 7, I just need to know how hard it is and if it's worth it. If it's not worth it, I have Parallels Desktop installed so I'll just run it on there. +Rep if you help.

In a modding way it is very worth it, There are many programs that download to windows and few for mac,
for school, not so much, I would suggest keeping your macbook the way it is.

Screw parallels, use vmware. Unless you need CUDA or something (which I doubt) anything you can do with bootcamp can be done with vmware.
Im running it right now, feels good man.

Is vmware faster? What else does it offer? And I'm downloading it now.

I use Windows 7 with Parallels on my Macbook pro. I had VM Ware before but didnt like it. Totally opinion based when it comes to which is better. But it works like a charm! It's just as if I have a PC. I mod with it and bridge Halo and standby. . etc. VM ware will give you the same results bc ive had it before. You can get either on for free on youtube lol. Just search for it. You can also get a windows 7 serial keygen on youtube.

Its worth it man. To me anyways.

Yeah I've been running vmware with Windows 7 on my MacBook and theres just not enough RAM to do it. I'm just wondering, are there good alternatives to iLife for free (or pirated versions) for win7?

If you have a copy of Windows 7, and a fairly large hard drive (500 GB or more), then definitely do it. I personally have a Mac and can tell you that VMWare and Parallels, while they have improved over time, still do not cut it for me. Sometimes it can be painful to have to start up in Windows just to do one little thing, but the overall experience in my opinion is better. Bottom line- Set up a Bootcamp partition with Apple's Wizard (It is very easy to do this), specify about 60-80 GBs of space for Windows, and set it up, if you don't like it you can always get rid of the partition. Also, I am fairly certain the latest Parallels and VMWare allow you to use your bootcamp partition in a virtual machine as well.

You do realize that you can do both right? I have Windows 7 installed through bootcamp and I can boot into it through parallels. It's simple to setup and simple to use.

I did it on my old MacBook and used it initially, but began to slowly stop using it.
To be honest, if you are thinking about it then you probably have a purpose for it, so I'd so go ahead and go for it
