When installing Windows 7 onto my Compaq Presario V2000, I get the following error message - A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

I dont understand why this happens. Help?

My first guess is that you have hardware that windows 7 doesn't have driver support for. you need to go grab it from the manufacturer's website and put it on a floppy or something for use during the install.

Yeah, i recommend that anyway. It'll set up a dual boot for you, and then you can easily transfer over your files. once you're done you can just delete the other partition, and use EasyBCD to clean up your boot screen.

(btw 1000th post)

I was suspicious of a bad copy when you initially posted...it's rare that happens. Don't know if it was the download itself, corruption on the extraction, etc...But once you posted those screenshots, it looked a lot like corruption....glad to see a better copy got you going.
