PUBG, when it comes down to the nit and grit of it is just another Battle Royal game. It has one map, limited amount of guns/items, and is mostly a fairly limited game; at least feature wise. It's still in Early Access with bugs, crashes and glitches and is an unfinished product.

Yet, for some odd reason it is becoming one of, if not, the most popular game on Steam. Before anyone kills me, I love this game. Even with all of these flaws, for some reason I just can't stop playing.

What is so special about this game? What is so unique that it could cause this much craze?

Opinions?
Thoughts?

Why do YOU like it?

I like this game a lot because it reminds me of a mix of DayZ and H1Z1. I like how it's a very competitive game as well not just something you can kick back and play. That's why I rage a lot when we play

I see where you're coming from. It's just crazy how you would think this game would become repetitive but it doesn't feel like it is.

I ask myself this same question every time Aaron forces me to play.

It's unique because of the hype around it. Overtaking CS:GO in peak popularity was a big milestone. I think what really caused it to blow up was its affiliation with Twitch and having a few big name streamers play it.

Personally I enjoy it because there's enough RNG to it that even mediocre players can get lucky with loot and circles and make it to top 10 or even a delicious chicken dinner. Sometimes its hard not to rage due to being early access with plenty of bugs.

That is true, it's unbelievable how many streamers are playing this game. I agree that RNG to an extent helps make each game unique, but how long will this last?

As for bugs, I had a really unfortunate one. I was geared, circle was down to the last few or so and there's probably 6 people left.

I enter a building and have always had this habit of closing the doors behind me. As I close this particular door, I lag back and glitch into the door. I was unable to move and unable to open or close the door. The next circle was away from where I was and I slowly died to the dreaded circle while trying to shoot the door or open it but to no avail.

Let's just say I didn't play the game for a few days after that.

I like it because of how random it is. I did hype buy it, which is uncommon for me - but I didn't regret it. I often find myself dropping into some areas with good loot, all by myself. If I'm lucky, I am in the circle already, so if the area is on the inner-side of the circle, I camp in a spot to wait for one or two unfortunate randoms.

Of course, if I end up being far from the circle, the panic of having to hunt for a vehicle because you spent those 5 minutes looting is exhilarating. Somehow, though, I always manage to find one as the blue field closes in. Playing a Duo or Squad game is definitely better. It's like Ghost Recon:Wildlands' Fallen Ghosts DLC, but more realistic; stranded with nothing but the clothes on your back, hunting for good gear to come out victorious with.

It's literally the most repetitive game I've ever played. One map, same objective every single time. Yet, somehow, I can play it 6 hours straight on any given day, and not become remotely tired of it.

The hype is 60% of it, the other 40% is the fact that its a fun game and people enjoy to play it. It’s one of those games where you can just hop on with your buddies, have fun and not get angry when you get merked because its a simple game.

For me it's the most exciting game I've ever played. If your playing on squads and more than one team drops in the same spot and only a few people are armed and you've got people running away from people with guns or melee weapons yelling for someone on their team to save them it can get very exciting and funny.

If you make it close to the end and you have worked your *** off gathering gear, running from the storm, and avoiding or killing other players you feel like you have a lot on the line and it can get very intense.

Initially it got kind of boring if you died early and had to sit there for 20 minutes watching your teammate hiding in a bathroom with a gun watching the door because they were outnumbered and scared to go outside. Over time me and the people I play with have realized this so we have come up with an avenge your teammates no matter what policy to keep it exciting for everyone. Most of the time it results in everyone dying and we all start over but every once in a while someone pulls off an exciting multi kill.

Me and most of my friends stream on Mixer while we are playing so the Hypezone adds an added level of excitement that no other game offers to my knowledge. The nervous feeling of being in the top ten gets intensified greatly of you suddenly have 200 harsh critics watching you try to get your chicken dinner.

Wasn't it like the first of it's kind evolving off Arma? It can be a simple, mindless, brain dead game. Or you can end up knowing the game like the back of your own hand and making it and all the 99 other players look like little b****es.

Game if fun, but infuriating at times. Only a matter of time tho until it's perfected. Is annoying how every game has a battle royal mode now tho.

I think mainly it is due to having more excitement than CoD or other flagship titles. Saying that also doesn't put it in the same category because the graphics of PUBG are sub par to any other game I have seen.

Lol I remember years ago talking about this same idea while playing CoD4 in its heyday and everyone liked the idea.

I like how simple it is. No stupid loot packages like in the new CoDs or EA games. A very simple objective. No dumb player ranking up or prestige to get cooler or better stuff. Its kinda a bringback to how older shooting games were and I believe people missed that. Yes this game has lots of issues as of now and the controls are very bad compared to CoD or Battlefield but, its still a fun game to me and the rest of the world.
