My current:

ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series

or

Radeon HD 6670 (EAH6670)

I know I'm asking the obvious here but is it a good enough of a step up to warrant upgrading to 6670?

I have the 6670, and it's really good. I can run most games on almost maxed out settings. I defiantly suggest upgrading to the 6670.

What company made yours? What price did you get it at too?

I got this one and haggled the guy down to £84.99, probably could of found it cheaper online...

It's definitely an improvement. From the 4000 series to the 5000 series is even a big upgrade. So upgrading to a 6670 is worth it. If you could, I would recommend the 6850, it is really good... if you're not going to go for the 6900 series of course.

But in general.. or if you were to get a new PC, go with Nvidia rather than an ATI Radeon. Overall better graphics cards.

Why would he have to get a new PC to get an Nvidia card?

Well, it would be compatible, obviously yes... but if he was to upgrade to a really good graphics card such as a 580, he would want to get a better power supply, and probably a better processor.... and even motherboard. You don't want to bottleneck it with a good graphics card and everything else being bad...

He never posted his PC's specs so how do you know he needs a better PSU and CPU for an Nvidia card?

I'm just guessing that he doesn't have the most powerful PC, considering he has an ATI Radeon 4600 series.

My PC Specs are:

AMD Athlon II X3 450 Processor
8GB RAM
ASUS M4A88T-M Mobo
and now: Radeon HD 6670

Yeah, like I thought. The specs aren't anything high end. It's a decent computer, and not knowing your PSU, I would say going with the 6670 would be a big improvement. It will most likely get you decent quality settings and FPS on games, but don't expect to play BF3 or Skyrim on Ultra.

And I do still stand with my earlier advice, if you were going to want to upgrade anything to something really high end, it would just be better to get a new computer in all.... since that's what you would be doing anyway, replacing everything.
