You can build an absolute epic rig for $2000, are you interested in building yourself or pre-built? Definitely recommend you build yourself. Oh and where do you live?

That's a good build, but I'd go for a modular PSU if I were you... easier cable management etc, and get 16gb of RAM, that'll be plenty for the future too! And maybe, from personal preference, go for a HAF case

A modular PSU would be nice, however a Corsair Enthusiast 850W is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to quality/price to power the build. 16GB of RAM is not necessary, however if OP needs the extra power for whatever reason he can upgrade for an extra $50 (remember I left $250 for upgrades). As for the case, I went off of this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/mana-136-midgard-ii-phantom-410,3203-9.html. Tom's puts 5 popular mid-tower cases and recommends the Phantom 410. Plus the white colour and the style of the case looks pretty sexy

Very good points! I was just expressing my opinion on what I'd buy.. and Tom's hardware are very reliable with reviews on graphics cards, so I assume it's good for cases too

$1750. I left $250 left for you to buy mouse/keyboard/speakers/monitor etc. should you need it. If not, you can upgrade a few of the parts inside to use all your budget.
The CPU is extreme overkill, nothing a regular person uses actually makes good use of hyperthreading, and you can get more than enough power out of an overclocked 3570k. If the OP doesn't care about throwing money out the window, though, then the 3770k isn't a problem at all.

The case might be a bit ricey, but that's just my opinion.

OP, if you don't mind, what would this computer mostly be used for?

Probably 3-D HD pornography. Just a hunch.

I think the OP needs something along these lines, then: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236206

Please, never, ever, ever recommend Alienware unless you hate the person with an intense, flaming passion. Acer only puts together computers, they aren't necessarily any better at a task than any other manufacturer. I'm not too familiar with Apple, so I can't speak on that.

You heard right, they make great gaming computers. The problem is, they charge you about 4x the cost of the parts, so it's generally a better idea to buy the components from a site like NewEgg and spend a few hours putting it together yourself to save $1000+.

The exception to all of that is gaming laptops, which Alienware does best, but those are abominations that should not be spoken of.

Not really. After Effects, Cinema 4D and Photoshop all support HT. It also helps with multi-tasking which is becoming more and more common (esp. with multiple monitors). I would consider SB-E overkill however.
