Hello, and thanks for your help in advance. I am running Vista 32 bit. I have a DSL modem plugged into my computer with an ethernet cable, a crossover cable going to my xbox from my computer. When I do this my computer can connect to the internet but my xbox cannot, when i test the connection in the xbox dashboard it says that my xbox cannot obtain an IP address from my router or modem. I've restarted both several times. Are there certain configurations in Vista's network manager I need to change?

    Are you bridging your connections?

As in, did you manually bridge them?

After you said that I thought about modem versus modem + router. I plugged in a router between my computer and the modem then I manually bridged the connections and it worked, thanks for your help.
