Is there anyway to unlock the 3g iphone so I can use it on a Verizon network. My family uses Verizon and wouldn't be willing to switch to AT&T just for the iPhone. Also if I've done it how would I go about getting them to let me use it on there network? Thanks in advance.

No, this has been a widely discussed topic ever since the iPhone came out. If you REALLY want an in depth answer I could do it, but to save you and me both time:

No, you can not and will never be able to use Verizon with an iPhone. Absolutely 100% impossible. Sorry for being rude, but its the truth

Verizon is not all that great anyway. They like to get money in any way they can and they don't give a **** about customers and the bills are confusing.

now for the in depth answer.....
    AT&T uses sim cards
verizon and sprint use something called a CDMA network whiis why you have to go to the store everytime you want to switch your phone, all your identification and service is built into the phone. the only other carrier you can use the iphone on to my knowlege would have to be T-Mobile if anyone knows of anyothers let me know so i cn add it to a site im working on

i do know that older verizon phones use a "global sim card" through researching, is it possible to use that card in the iphone if you could somehow access the card and put your verizon info on it if you knew what to add?

Alright, @cacrawford My blackberry has a sim card, and you don't have to go to the store to get a new phone activated. I activated mine on the phone.

No ****? Sim cards store all your information on the chip, Phone number, Contacts ect. You don't need to go into the store to activate it... Thats what was just explained.. Lol

Yes, you do "activate" them on the phone by calling *86 or *228 i forgot which, but when you buy a phone, they take both of them(inc. your old one) and do something with it behind the desk, no? This is when they transfer your info(phone number and other stuff).

It's not actually a Verizon sim card. It's a Vodafone sim card that is distributed THROUGH Verizon with certain phones to use when you travel overseas. Verizon themselves DO NOT use sim cards.
