Use usb port just to charge iPod touch

Is there any way to allow a usb port to charge only, because iDevices need a driver installed in order to charge. In my case the driver can't be installed, so i want to know if my USBs can act as if i plugged cord just into a wall outlet. Any feedback would be great (ya i know seems like a longshot, but i want to see if this were to work)

Purchase a charge only cable, the oem apple ones are data + power
