I'm looking to upgrade my PC with $340 or so. I really need a new CPU and motherboard.

My current specs are
Code:
EVGA 430 W1 80+ PSU
PNY Anarchy 8GB 2x4
Gigabyte FM2+ AMD - GA-F2A68HM-HD2
Amd X4 860k Black
GTX 750ti

I feel as if my graphics card can hold off from being upgraded at the moment because I'm not really playing games my PC just runs slow all around.

I don't care whether you guys suggest AMD or Intel parts I'll go with what ever's best in my budget range.

I'd recommend getting this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q4dy7h
I'd recommend getting 16GB of ram but, for now, 8GB should be plenty.

Once you'll be ready to upgrade your GPU, you might want to upgrade your PSU too, to something like a seasonic 620w unit.

I was thinking of maybe expanding my budget a bit and getting one of these

The i5 is like $90 less, is it really worth getting the $90 more version?

Any CPU that uses the X299 chipset are a complete waste of money except the 7900x-7980x.

If you want a better CPU, get an i5-8600x and a decent cooler.

Keep in mind that, regardless of which CPU you end up buying, you'll also need new ram (You have DDR3 ram, the new CPU only support DDR4) and will also need a new motherboard.
