Alright, so this year I'll be upgrading my current build - https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/boars-rig.1030142/

Budget is roughly around $3000 (max) as I'll be selling my current build

Here is what I have in mind so far -
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/F6mtpG

6/04 - Updated : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dDrHWD
6/07 - Micro ATX Build Option: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LpCwYT

Any suggestions on what I should change or what.... comment down below

For now, here's what I'd suggest you'd upgrade:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CDR8RG

I'd also upgrade the GPU for the upcoming 2080ti or 1180ti, they should be released in the next 6 months and for now, your 780 will do a good enough job.

You might want to get a newer case and better CPU cooler as well, depending on what you currently have. From what I'm seeing, it looks like you have a corsair H100 which should be great for the 8700k.

Also, don't forget to get new thermal paste!

I’ll be giving my current build to a friend so therefore won’t be able to part pick sadly.

On another note, why the mb switch? always been a fan of the asus rog series but i’m up to better options

It looks solid to me

I was going to suggest a 1080ti instead but forgot that GPU prices are cancerous right now :frown:
Yeah, I would love to have the ti version but the price difference was outrageous between the two. Only way would be for me to cut costs on other stuff like the motherboard or something :frown:

DO NOT BUY A HYBRID DRIVE!

Just get normal drive & get an SSD.

Also if you buy a Ryzen setup on x470 chipset you can use this application (uses 2gb ram, and uses your ssd to speed up ur HDD)
https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/store-mi

Which is doing properly what a hybrid drive is supposed to do.

1) Get a nice monitor with AHVA panel 144hz 1440p or better recommended to get Adaptive Sync.

I recommend the Nixeus Edg27 or the Samsung - C27HG70

2) Get a Ryzen 2700X instead of Covfefe lake CPU the exploit Intel CPU's have has a huge performance drop that hurts gaming performance as well

Ryzen wins in production & Gaming post Spectre fix.
https://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/ryzen-benchmarks-on-spectre-meltdown-patches.1716216/

3) Instead of a GTX 1080 get a Vega 56 or Vega FE. The Vega FE can install gaming drivers or professional drivers its a true prosumer card.

Do you want a more future proofed rig or do you want to upgrade again in a few years?

If you want a future proofed rig spend the extra to get a Frontier Edition Vega which comes with 16gb of HBM 2 ram.

If not just get a Vega 56. You pay extra now for future proofing as well as resale value

Get a Ryzen 2700X instead of an 8700k it will be more future proofed, better streaming/multi threaded performance & its cheaper + runs cooler.

And post spectre/meltdown patch it actually even beats Intel in gaming.

It has like ~50% faster single threaded performance to your FX chip & far superior multi-threaded performance as well.

I’ll be giving my current build to a friend so therefore won’t be able to part pick sadly.

On another note, why the mb switch? always been a fan of the asus rog series but i’m up to better options

Asus has a huge markup on their mobo's and Gigabyte typically has better quality boards for same price but honestly if you buy MSI, Asus or Gigabyte you don't have issues all 3 brands are great.

I almost always recommend Gigabyte on high end rigs.

Since I'm selling my current build, and my budget still remains at $2,500.... I updated my build list.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fnFjHh

Also need recommendations for a nice gaming monitor that fits within my budget. Preferably 1440p 144hz

Prefix_NA Prefix_NA I took a look at your suggestions, as my last build was AMD I want to go with an Intel build this time. Thanks for you input though

So... after further thought, I realized I was spending $430 on 2x NZXT Kraken x72 and a GPU Block for cooling.

May as well just go for a custom water cool loop within that price range lol

Could wait on the new gen of intel cpu
I was thinking of this actually. But I normally don't like to purchase parts when they are just released in case there are any hiccups with them and little knowledge on them.

I've also heard they aren't being released until next year now?
