I'm not giving anymore support over PM/AIM. If you have a question post in the thread.

This is for experienced users only. Please do not use if you don't know what you're doing.

UPDATE: Jailbreaking App released, looks noob friendly:

UPDATED: New Tut. I can vouch for it.

    Made by jfb392 at ipodtouchfans.

Since all of the other guides for Windows that are currently out don't seem to work
(because iRecovery and rslite differ in the way they send files), here's one that should work.

    What you'll need:
[Click here to view the link]- an automated rebooter, no disconnecting/reconnecting!
[Click here to view the link]
[Click here to view the link]
[Click here to view the link]
[Click here to view the link]
[Click here to view the link]
side-by-side configuration fix: [Click here to view the link]

1.) Extract redsn0w lite and XPwn to your Desktop.

2.) Save (or move) the 2.2.1 IPSW into the XPwn folder.

    3.) In the rslite101 folder, there should be a FirmwareBundles folder;
copy the iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11.bundle into your XPwnFirmwareBundles folder.

4.) Open up a Command Prompt (type cmd in the Search bar if on Vista).

    5.) Type the following:

    Code:
    cd C:UsersyourusernameDesktopXPwn-0.5.7-win32
    ipsw "iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw" "iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Custom_Restore.ipsw" -s 700 bundlesCydia.tar
If you're running XP, your location will be a bit different (should be C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Desktop\).

6.) Wait for XPwn to finish, it should only take a few minutes.

7.) Extract all files in the iRecovery RAR to your Desktop and open the iRecovery folder,
there should be an installer for libusb located here.
If you haven't already installed libusb, please do so now.
If you're running Vista or 7, please right click the .exe and select Properties,
then click the Compatibility tab, then select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
    from the drop-down menu.

After install, a restart may be required.

8.) Open another Command Prompt (or use the one you used before,
if it is still up) and type the following:

    Code:
    cd C:UsersyourusernameDesktopiRecoveryiRecovery_SVN
Again, your location will be different if you're on XP, see above.

9.) Extract your 2.1.1 iBSS and 2.2.1 iBSS and iBoot.
To do so, right click your 2.1.1 IPSW and select
    Open with > WinRAR archiver.
    Navigate to the Firmware\dfu directory,
then drag iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu into your iRecovery_SVN folder.
    Rename it iBSS211.dfu.
Now, open up your custom 2.2.1 IPSW using WinRAR.
First, navigate to the Firmware\dfu folder and drag iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu into your iRecovery_SVN folder.
    Rename it iBSS221.dfu.
Now, navigate to the Firmware\all_flash\all_flash.n72ap.production folder.
Extract iBoot.n72ap.RELEASE.img3 to your iRecovery_SVN folder.
    Rename it iBoot221.img3.

10.) Put your iPod into DFU mode
(this is out of the scope of this tutorial, sorry).
Bring up your Command Prompt again and execute the following:

    Code:
    iRecovery -f iBSS211.dfu
Your iPod's screen should turn white.

11.) In the same Command Prompt, enter the following:

    Code:
    iRecovery -s
    arm7_stop
    mw 0x9000000 0xe59f3014
    mw 0x9000004 0xe3a02a02
    mw 0x9000008 0xe1c320b0
    mw 0x900000c 0xe3e02000
    mw 0x9000010 0xe2833c9d
    mw 0x9000014 0xe58326c0
    mw 0x9000018 0xeafffffe
    mw 0x900001c 0x2200f300
    arm7_go
    arm7_stop
    /exit
Just to clarify, you will hit enter after each of these commands.

12.) Restore to your custom firmware using [Click here to view the link] (hold shift and hit Restore, then select iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11_Custom_Restore.ipsw).

13.) After your restore is complete, put you iPod into DFU mode,
you'll have to apply the patch again to boot.
You will also have to do these same things each time you boot from now on:

    Code:
    iRecovery -f iBSS211.dfu
    iRecovery -s
    arm7_stop
    mw 0x9000000 0xe59f3014
    mw 0x9000004 0xe3a02a02
    mw 0x9000008 0xe1c320b0
    mw 0x900000c 0xe3e02000
    mw 0x9000010 0xe2833c9d
    mw 0x9000014 0xe58326c0
    mw 0x9000018 0xeafffffe
    mw 0x900001c 0x2200f300
    arm7_go
    arm7_stop
    /exit
    iRecovery -f iBSS221.dfu
    iRecovery -s
    go
    /exit
    iRecovery -f iBoot221.img3
    iRecovery -s
    go
    /exit
If you iPod is not recognized after sending the 2.1.1 iBSS,
unplug it and plug it back in, then try iRecovery -s.

14.) Your iPod should now be booting; enjoy your tethered jailbreak.

I modified it a tiny bit. If you need anything ask.

The original poster of this tut forgot to mention that you have to get a custom IPSW. When I finish this jailbreak I'll post a tut.

Please include pics for people like me.

Also I have a few questions about jailbreaking. Can I still sync it like normal with iTunes? Do I lose any features that I originally had?

You should be able to connect to iTunes after completely jailbreaking. I don't believe you lose any features either.

Sweet. Can't wait for a full tutorial on how to do this with pics.

I was sort of hoping for a program like QwkPwn to do it with but whatever:rolleyes:

OK, so, this is stil tetherd, therefore meaning the jailbreak goes away after each reboot? I think I will wait for a more stable version

If I could figure out how to do it it doesn't seem like a large task, because I can just use a wall charger for power and update my music and vids when I need to.

For all having trouble on step 5, you have to CD into your Xpwn directory (it varies depending on where you saved it), and for the second part don't use quotes, so it should be:

    ipsw iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Custom_Restore.ipsw" -s 700 bundles\Cydia.tar

ya i got all that stuff...i just wanted to make sure before i started. So what happens if we have this jailbreak when they release a full jailbreak...could we still do it? and what happens if i restart my itouch, would i have to start over?

and step 11 is not working, no matter what i typed. It says something about the side by side not being configured correct

ok, I fail miserably. Everything went south after step 11. it kept giving me errors. Im just waiting for a accuall release, unless someone wants to help

hold power and home putton for 8 seconds( one one thousand, two onethousand, etc) then after 8 sec, release the power button and just hold the home button. The screen will stay black, you should be in DFU mode. Also it must be connected to a computer.
