In this tutorial i shall be showing and explaining to showing you how to make a template and cut an xbox 360 case correctly, in order to achieve a modded 360 case.
Tools needed:
So here is a template ive made up and printed out:
[It is the akimbo logo, with the "ELITE" logo.
Next we will take our scalpel, and cut out the shape we want:
Keep doing it until its totally finished. *Keep the loose bits from the gun stubs, as you will need them*
Next we will position the template onto the xbox 360 cover. Use some tape to hold it in place:
Next, take your marker and draw a thick line on the outline of the template, and onto the xbox.
Start with the loose parts. You need to hold them in place whilst you draw on them.
Keep going until its all markered:
Remove the paper template, and vala! You have the outline to cut to:
Next is 1 of the most important parts of this tutorial. Cover the lines your going to be cutting with sellotape. This keeps the blade clean ensuring clean cuts.
Now is a good time to remove the steel insert it, just pull it, it will detach.
Now down to the cutting.
Tools needed:
So, take you drill and drill holes in the corners, and anywhere you will need to turn the blade:
Keep going til all the corners are drilled:
Next we will remove the supports on the underside of the case, take your pliers and bend then off like so:
Keep going til the surface below where you are cutting is clear of these supports:
Next grab your jigsaw and start cutting. Theres no rush, take it easy, let the saw do the cutting, do not force it:
Theres the logo done:
Keep going til its all cut out. [Keep the loose bits from the gun stubs], you will need them. [Don`t worry about the "O" in the xbox, it always pops off. You can fill the hole later.
Remember those supports we removed earlier? We are going to need to smooth them out. So grab your dremel with the sanding attachment, and smooth them:
Keep going til its all smooth:
So now it should look like so:
Next we are going to smooth out the cuts.
Tools needed:
Files
Sandpaper [180 grit]
And i use a piece of wood with 80 grit sandpaper stuck on
So start by doing the biggest cuts:
Thats the logo done!
Keep doing til its all done. Now is a good time to smooth over any mistake made whilst cutting:
Next grab your sandpaper, we are going to be removing the burrs from the cutting and filing, both the front and back needs to be done. Gently rub it on the edges of the cuts, this will round the corner slightly, and make it smooth.
Once its finished, it should like smooth and burr free. Its now ready for filling.
