Hello community,

I've been LOA on GTA: V and Online recently and just decided to check the news on the latest update. I was ecstatic when I noticed some the outfits available for VIP and Bodyguards, and even more cheery when I noticed there was a glitch to keep them. That cheer, however, went out the window after I read further about how R* hotfixed the ability to do so.

I want to make it clear that this is not just a thread ranting about the fact this happened even though my updated signature would contradict that; TBH, I am pretty upset. As it says in my signature, I'm an LE (law enforcement community) enthusiast and I'm a bit miffed at this but I'm confident in modder's abilities later on down the line if R* doesn't add these clothes in to the stores at another time. What's really making me "miffed" is that the clothing is blacklisted so even if you are wearing them, you can still lose them.

I've made this thread to ask the community how they feel about this recent hotfix and the overall attitude R* has given to the thought of "special" and "not normally obtainable" outfits and clothing. To clarify, "not normally obtainable" means that the outfit or clothing is not usually something you can wear or would wear in this type of game. Do you think it was necessary for a hotfix and a blacklisting? Do you think there were other ways this could have been handled? Do you think R* does this on purpose to encourage us to play modes that we wouldn't want to otherwise? I'd like to get a legitimate discussion going on this so let's get to it. Please post your opinions below.

It's their game they can do whatever they want with it. People will forget about it eventually, and move on. I was mad that they never opened the Casino, but now I just gave up, and figured it will be opened later down the road. Maybe in a special DLC or something. Regardless you just have to realize that people aren't going to be happy 100%. You just have to adapt, and keep playing.

it doesn't matter that much because you can just keep activating the vip service after the 12 hour wait

While I agree it is their game and it is ultimately their rules we play by, I still don't understand why a compromise cannot be reached and we can just have the option to but them in a clothing store. Heck, R* are clever. Perhaps they could have made an underground "black market", like the Cache and Carry website already kind of is. TBH, Cache and Carry would have been perfect at least for the Bodyguard outfits. R* could have easily placed them in the store and you could have purchased them.

My point is, R* shouldn't try to restrict our individuality by barring us from wearing any wearable clothing that is a part of the game. If you can view it in the game's code, it should be wearable.

Another flaw in my topic is that I am not able to actually "test" out the new content. I don't have an Xbox ONE or PS4 and my PC that has GTA: V is BSing for reasons unknown. While I could just spam VIP, there's a cooldown, so I'm guessing the outfit would disppear of your character even if you had it on because the VIP was removed due to a time limit.

That is what I'm hoping for. What's really bad though is that the outfits are BLACKLISTED. That's the same problem we all have with being able to store unstorable vehicles. I'd be happy with just being able to use the outfit, but I'd be even more happy if we had the ability to store it. R* gives us these cool options and then limit them to oblivion. Sometimes I wonder if the people in marketing actually have brains at all or it's just dumb luck they get such successful results.

KEEP 'EM COMIN'!

They didn't mean to "give" us a glitch. If it makes their game look bad they'll patch it. I agree they went to far by blacklisting the whole outfit though. It feels like we're beginning to insult them with our exploits  KEEP EM COMIN'
Also I think their marketing strategy is genius. They make a DLC look free while still getting people to pay upwards to 100$ on it? Pssh they're smart I'll give them that!

They've been doin a pretty good job hitting us with frequent and plentiful DLCs since May (Heists). There's more than enough now to make one's character an individual. But.... we always want what we can't have. If it came purchasable in the clothes store to begin with, nobody would want to wear it. They would want beast hands or a trashman's vest.

A somewhat smart person would simply take that $100, and invest in a PS3. Use OFW mods, transfer to next gen. Your "Shart Card" (still one of the funniest things I've seen on these forums!!) purchase will go from 8 million to 800 million.... plus those paints and unlocks.

I guess my problem then is that I want those outfits that I can't have, lol.

I realize that they didn't mean to give us a glitch. They didn't mean to give us storable police cars or tanks, but we did get it at one point. I don't see how clothing that you aren't allowed to get is considered "making [R*'s] game look bad". Blacklisting was over the top. I think there was more to it. Same with patching the storable vehicles (excluding all that weren't considered mobile weapons). I have a feeling that R* is also getting "uppity" that [we] keep comin up with all these glitches to their game and that some of them actually improve the game (Ex: Gate Glitch).

Their marketing strategy, to me, is like an episode of American Dad where Stan was given a free dose of "cough medicine" and every other "visit" had a fee $$$. Once R* "hooks" you, it's hard to resist. The solution to that then is to not get hooked. The BS moves they pull with limiting cool content helps me realize that so I don't get the initial "hook".

Yes. We always want what we can't get, but we can get what we are allowed to get. I only want the armor because it looks better than the crappy version they give us now. I think they know this and is one reason why they make it restricted to a stupid, gimmicky game feature. I disagree that allowing them to be purchased would make them less desirable. You don't know that for sure. It would make it less "valuable" to players because everyone has the ability to obtain it but that's about all I can see happening.

Good responses so far. I'm trying to stay as neutral as I can BTW.

Why would they keep a glitch in the game? It isn't supposed to be there. It's a mistake. You can say it doesnt make the game look bad but it doesn't make them look good, or the update hehe. I suppose I dont care though because I still have my duffel bag on

That would be a good solution...but my friends have grown tired of playing GTA: V and Online. I can always find more though. Can you explain how the process goes? I haven't had a chance to actually try the new update and I won't be able to. How does the whole VIP thing work in regards to you playing as a bodyguard? Also, can you only choose the armor variants as a bodyguard or as a VIP as well?

[REDACTED]

Right; they wouldn't keep a glitch in the game nor would most game developers; however, didn't R* state that they would keep or at least leave certain glitches alone if they were of no harm to the players? Unless the armor given to you actually is bulletproof or gives a player and actual advantage, how would it be so detrimental that it has to be removed let alone blacklisted? [REDACTED]. If they made them available in the first place we wouldn't have to resort to these glitches. Cause and effect.

Other than the glitch that allows you to reset vip which is goog til it will eventually be patched when your a vip your are vip for 4 hours then after that you am have a 12 hour cool down having 3 other friends nullifies the cool down as someone will be vip while your on cool down and you just take a turn as body guard

Vip chooses outfit style for themselves then bodyguard styles that corresponds with the vip outfit

ll_Spiders_ll ll_Spiders_ll , OK. Now what are the choices of clothing you can choose from and which are the ones that have the armor variants everyone seems to want?

Exactly. This is why I think they should just make these glitches into an in game feature, so there wouldnt be a need to glitch their game in the first place if it bothers them so much.
