Discussion Thinking about bying a console with rrod due to console ban

Ok i am console banned

Im thinking about buying a console that has rrod because they are cheaper

Im not that experienced with fixing rrod, but i have fixed mine and a friends.

Should i buy one like that or not

If you have already done this then i will greatly appreciate your advice.

if its RROD an still has warrant, then you can send it to MS an they fix it lol

well i dunno if it works in other games but in halo if you have for eg, Poo mmmmmmmmmm it will cut off the m's at show your name as just "Poo" lol

Pretty sure someone posted a tut on how to get it fixed, even out of warranty...even if it's already registered.

I would rather fix it with the x clamp fix than send it in though. MS are stupid, and can't fix crap.

If you are going to buy a RRODed console, just make sure it has warranty sticker on it still. Better chance it has not been tampered or had any previous attempts at a fix with failure.

It takes 1 week for me. That doesn't meen it will take 1 week for you. It all depends where you live and where the nearest repair center is.

As for the fixing part.
1. Take off the heatsinks
2. Cover all plastic parts/things that can melt
3. Reflow with a heatgun for 4 1/2mins(CPU, GPU, SOUTHBRIDGE, HANA) then let it cool for 45mins( do not move the board at all as it can be lethal to it)
4. When done cooling do xclamp mod, penny fix, and new thermal paste.

I suggest you do all that even if it is only E74, or RROD. Doing all of it will give you a higher chance of it being fixed permanently or for a very long time.
