Hi everyone! As some of you may know, Bungie is working on their next game, and they have been for quite a while. Since rumors are floating around that we'll see a reveal for this game (named Destiny) tonight at the VGA's No reveal! This comes just a few hours after Urk and DeeJ announced that Bungie would NOT participate or even be present at the VGA's, I decided I'd bring a lot of the information we already know to Se7ensins, so that many of you who haven't had the chance to can get a read-up on the game itself.

Most of the information that will be posted here is from Misriah Solutions and I take no direct credit for any of the following (unless I state so). I'm simply bringing this information to the Se7ensins community.

All of the information listed here will be written in reverse order, from what has happened most recently to the oldest bits of information. So, let's begin!

This page is a collection of all known information on Bungie’s next major project, Destiny. I intend to keep it updated as new clues are found, so be sure to check back later. I’m going to stick to a reverse-chronological page order, but read from the top of each page. If you want to start at the beginning just jump to the last page and start at the top. I’m going to concentrate on solid info, with speculation and rumors added in depending on how they fit with other clues and how plausible they seem.

Fatigues of Their Own
Back in June, DeeJ posted a mailsack with a picture of the Bungie softball team jersey:

Not terribly exciting, but I do enjoy seeing the Destiny logo pop up in unique places. I doubt the team name “Strikers” is linked to Bungie’s new game, but you never know; perhaps “Per audacia ad Astros” was already taken.

The Seventh Beatle
On Bungie Day, Marty made a very surprising announcement via Twitter:

Over on NeoGAF, Urk clarified a few details for a few unreasonably worried fans:
NeoGAF Poster: “I don’t really dig much of Paul’s latest stuff, but the things he did with the Beatles were phenomenal. let’s hope he’s forced to collaborate as it’s when he writes his best.”
Urk: “I wouldnt worry about it. They’re not working on an album of singles. The game’s score will be orchestral.
NeoGAF Poster: “This is disheartening only in the fact that it seems like, ‘Hey, let’s get the biggest name we can afford even if it doesn’t make sense! And we can afford…anyone now!’”
Urk: “We didn’t hire Paul. Paul contacted Marty because he heard his work and wanted to collaborate with him.
NeoGAF Poster: “Spend all the development money on unnecessary crap, whine about budgets and then say that f2p is the future.”
Urk: “This wasn’t handled through our publisher, or with development resources.Paul is adding his talent to the mix, and taking the opportunity to work with Marty and Mike. Marty and Mike are excited about the music they’re making together, and when they get excited, so do we. It’s really no more complicated than that.”

Perhaps we’ll get to hear some of this music soon, as it seems Marty recently made a mysterious trip across the pond:

Bungie Day
On July 7th, the Bungie.net frontpage was updated with a short article containing exciting promises for the future of the Bungie community. A new image graced the home page, which at the time seemed to just represent the Seventh Column’s well-known mission of World Domination…

New forum avatars and profile backgrounds were added to the Bungie.net settings page:

The Bungie Store was updated with a Bungie Day 2012 collection, including some apparel, a few accessories, and three Destiny-related shirts: Red, White, and Blue. (I imagine these colors were picked to follow a July 4th theme.)

What’s really interesting is that the descriptions for each shirt seem to confirm their speculated names:

Geomancy
The Bungie Day article also included a mysterious set of seven symbols at the bottom under the filename “particles.png”:

Each symbol was also made available for use as a forum avatar on Bungie.net; one of the symbols appears inside the collar of the three Destiny shirts sold in the Bungie store:

These symbols are most likely Geomantic figures. There are sixteen total used inGeomancy, which is an ancient Arabic method of divination. I find it interesting that “in Renaissance magic, geomancy was classified as one of the seven “forbidden arts,” along with necromancy, hydromancy, aeromancy, pyromancy, chiromancy (palmistry), and spatulamancy (scapulimancy).

Bungie.net forum members feverish tried to interpret the seven Bungie Day symbols, scouring the internet for Geomancy tutorials. Some tried to translate the symbols into binary, but the garbled results seemed to be a dead end. One user thought the symbols could be translated into a phone number, resulting in some poor soul being harassed by dozens of misguided callers trying to solve a puzzle. DeeJ quickly put an end to that wrong turn and later called off the search in the July 13th mail sack:
xNiGhThAwKx19: What can you tell us about the enigmatic symbols on both the shirts and in the Bungie Day announcement article?
DeeJ: I can tell you nothing about them that you don’t already know, tenacious investigator: They exist. You will learn more about their role in our new universe Soon™.
And, I intend to tease you with them whenever they come up in conversation. Look! There they are again…
And if you start dialing your phone while looking at that, I will kick your ***.
It seems the trail has gone cold. For now.

One of Seven
On Bungie day, the One of Seven page was updated to allow the seven golden ticket holders (randomly selected through Bungie Day 2011′s Bag O’ Swag sale) to enter their unique code and claim their prize. The following images appeared on the redemption page:

(As a side note, I have been told that each golden ticket had one of the seven geomantic symbols behind the text, presumably with a unique symbol for each winner.) Successfully entering a code treated the user to a Marty-filled video complete with cliffhanger ending, which Bungie posted to YouTube after clever forum members figured out you could access the link without entering a code:
That’s right, the prize for the One of Seven contest was a tour of Bungie studios. Very cool. Most visitors only get to see the lobby, which is very impressive and full of Bungie memorabilia but is also a very controlled environment and completely devoid of hints at the new game. Going beyond those inner doors is a very special prize.

I’ve been informed that the One of Seven tour has already taken place – the winners spent a weekend together touring the Bellevue studio and seeing all kinds of things that they cannot talk about. Let me briefly adopt a serious tone, dear reader: Do NOT bother the seven winners – they’re under strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and pestering them for Destiny secrets will get you nowhere. I’ve been assured from the highest source that they cannot talk about anything beyond the front lobby and there’s already plenty of coverage for that space.

There are a few small tidbits I’ve heard through the grapevine though: it seems the seven got to play around in the motion capture room and audio booth, though I’m not sure if they recorded assets for the game. The seven were sent home with some nice swag, including the very special “One of Seven” hoodie pictured above. If you see someone wearing this, just give ‘em a high-five and quietly contain your jealousy.

Bungie Day @ Bungie
On August 1st, DeeJ posted a writeup of the studio’s internal Bungie Day celebrations, providing us with a few pictures of the proceedings. While DeeJ was careful not to let any Destiny secrets slip, that didn’t stop me from meticulously combing through each image and letting my imagination run wild.

Puerto Princesa
Back in September, Bungie.net user “Motarius1″ posted his discovery: Puerto Princesa in the Philippines is the real-world location of the “Destiny Map” Bungie has been using so frequently. The artwork is lifted directly from a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey nautical chart first published in 1904. (The map is in the public domain, which allows Bungie to use it free of charge.)

The full-resolution map (14.1 MB) can be downloaded here from the NOAA’s Historical Map and Chart Collection.
Will the city of Puerto Princesa appear in Destiny, or is it just stock art used as inspiration? It’s hard to say, but Bungie.net user “x Foman123 x” brought up a good point about the possible link between Bungie and Puerto Princesa: Lorraine McLees (the talented Bungie artist behind last year’s Holiday Card) is from the Philippines.

Demonware Indiscretion
On November 6th, Superannuation over at Kotaku broke a story: Demonware, a software and services provider for all of Activision’s online games, slipped up and let an internal blog be publicly accessed (and cached) by Google. This revealed a post describing Demonware’s involvement in Destiny and how a few Demonware employees were invited to the Bungie Day presentations and game testing sessions.

Here are a few choice quotes (with bolding and links added by yours truly):
Demonware have been involved from early on and [Demonware employees] have been working on features, but there has been a lot of secrecy around the game and concept, few people have seen anything more than a box level.
[New Bungie employees were] asked to kneel in front of Harold Ryan (President) while he read a pseudo oath, culminating in “be brave“, a term they have trademarked for the game.
[We saw] a few hours of presentations covering everything from game story, factions, art engineering, tool chain, graphics, audio, player investment mechanisms, player progression, UI, and web and mobile apps.
[...]the most impressive was a live scene walk through demonstrating lots of atmospherics, huge amounts of trees and foliage (SpeedTree), particle effects, dynamic lighting and dynamic time of day ending in a sunset.
This is not a dedicated server game, but there is some simulation and coordination running in their server infrastructure. The game was up and down a lot, playing in a team of 3 we did manage to experience entering a zone to find other players already taking on the bad guys, it’s cooperative so we helped out [...] before both groups went their separate ways. Which is a pretty cool experience, making you feel you are part of a much larger populated world. It’s also worth mentioning the game client was remarkably stable and robust in the face of servers disappearing and reappearing.
I like the feel of being in a large world with different destinations and interactions along the way. It actually brought back a sense of exploration I recall from playing Elite many years ago, although there was no opportunity to shoot aliens in the face in Elite. I’m not fully sold on the appeal of being able to change the colour of a weapon, but I guess it works in China, and customization and individual identity is a big theme for the game.
General comments from others: It’s still quite like Halo, there is a lot of work still to be done.
Finally, Tiger is now called Destiny.
Very interesting stuff. I’m inclined to believe Kotaku’s source, as it matches what we already know about the game (and what we know about the Bungie Day events).

IGN’s Game Spy
On November 27th, IGN published an article revealing a wealth of new Destiny info and concept art. A reader provided them with a document prepared by an advertising agency working with Bungie that contained “an outside look at Destiny’s plot, key values and more.” Kotaku later put out a story claiming they also received the document, but had received some slightly different images.
What is Destiny?
One of the most ambitious games ever created, Destiny features a rich universe populated with colorful characters and fantastic worlds that are grounded in our Solar System. Destiny aspires to be defined not just as a ground-breaking video game, but as an epic entertainment property. The ambition is to create a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise. Centered around adventure and fun, the game is designed to be highly social while also allowing for open exploration.
What is the story?
Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.
What are the values?
Adventure – An exciting trek through the universe, filled with mystery and action.
Camaraderie – Social at its core, Destiny offers a world to explore with friends, both old and new.
Hope – Evil looms and dangers are everywhere, but you fundamentally believe that good will prevail.
Fun – It’s fun and accessible to all, and always filled with friends.
Discovery – Your journey is grounded in our world, but full of amazing things to do and discover.

Remember, the Activision contract specified Destiny’s target ESRB rating as “T for Teen” (but keep in mind Halo was always on the tame side of the M rating).

Don’t assume that is the final set of consoles/platforms. I’ve seen another version of this image with “Destiny.com” on it, but currently Destiny.com is an abandoned dating website URL and is not owned by Bungie.

IGN stated that this alien ship was referred to as “The Traveler” in the leaked document. Note the faint Puerto Princesa map overlay.

The Last City on Earth. Notice the mountains and harbor/river in the background. This geography would align with that seen in the Puerto Princesa map, making it seem likely that the Destiny Map is a map of the Last City (although it may not be located in the Philippines.) The city looks huge in this concept art and seems to be encircled by a giant wall and eight gigantic towers.

This looks to be another concept for the massive towers that dot the wall surrounding the Last City. There seem to be a lot of aircraft flying around (many of which are duplicated in the previous image).

Another image containing aircraft, which lends credence to the idea that players will be able to fly between locations. The character in the foreground has an interesting medieval feel to his design; the image on his cape reminds me of Bungie’s cancelled Breach/Phoenix project from the Halo 2 days.

These ruins could be leftovers from humanity’s Golden Age. The small character at the bottom looks vaguely resembles a Spartan, carrying two weapons (with one on the back, just like Halo).

The next four images are NOT Bungie concept art but were assembled by the advertising agency to represent possible styles for Destiny’s promotional art.

Was Destiny supposed to be an exclusive reveal at the Spike VGAs on December 7th? Bungie has been saying “See you in 2013″ whenever asked about the new game’s reveal, but I’ll still be watching the VGAs just in case…

Retroactive Teasing
Looking back at the image posted to Bungie.net on Bungie Day, it’s clear we were being teased without realizing it:

The reveal of The Traveler also brings a new interpretation to the “Destiny Awaits” poster from ODST, first found by NsU Soldier back in May 2011 (and not last week as somegaming sites would lead you to believe).

January – May 2012
UNUSUAL SPONSORSHIP
The Bungie Winter Pentathlon was held back in January and one of the events required the creation of custom car paint jobs in Forza 4. Both the Middle School team and the Grizzled Ancients produced designs sporting the Destiny logo:


This doesn’t give us any info on the game, of course, but I’m always a sucker for seeing the logo pop up in new places. Notice anything in the background of this hilarious portrait of studio co-founder Jason Jones?

“Celer Manus Dei” is a reference to a ship in Marathon 2: Durandal (thanks, Miguel), and means “The swift hand of god.” It should be noted that Jason Jones was holding a large sword when the portrait was presented to him at the end of the Pentathlon…
A NEW COAT OF PAINT
Bungie recently updated the artwork outside the studio’s front entrance. Bungie.net user HOOBLA 911 shared a picture of the new mural, which contains a Destiny logo and the familiar background design of the Destiny map:

Every Bungie game released (so far) is mentioned on the left wall, including “Gnop!” according to a pic tweeted by Bungie composer Marty O’Donnell:

THE RETURN OF PENNY ARCADE
Dabe Alan of the Penny Arcade Report recently visited the studio not for a Bungie/PA ping pong rematch, but for a rare photography-allowed tour of the building.

Notice the Destiny symbol in the front window. (You can’t see it in the picture taken from outside.)

Here we can see another Destiny logo on the lower half of a pillar in the second floor lobby. Note that the top half seems to have the “Destiny planet” found in previous Bungie.net art. Unlike the front entrance signage, these pillars are not sporting new decoration – the same design can be seen in this group photo posted to the About Bungie page in June of 2011.

MARCUS RETURNS TO BUNGIE
Last Fall, Marcus Lehto (Creative Director on Halo: Reach) left Bungie to spend some well-deserved time with his family. Fortunately for us, it wasn’t a permanent separation from game development. On January 21st, 2012 he announced his return to Bungie on his new blog, METTLEshop.

“During this time, I kept in contact with my friends at Bungie to discuss some possible opportunities that didn’t exist prior to my leaving. It was sad to leave behind a company that I helped create, but I was ready to make a change and start something new. Well, my discussions continued to develop with Bungie and soon we had a plan together that made a ton of sense. Why slave over the difficulties of building a studio from scratch when I could start something new, working on a brand new IP right within Bungie itself?
So, it is with great care that I will be venturing back to Bungie on Monday. I will be teaming up with my longtime colleague, Joe Tung, to start the construction of a brand new team and project. We will be a lean and mean organization for a while until our first game pitch is ready, and then grow from there.”
Marcus seems to be pretty excited (and busy) with his new project, and it’s very interesting to see that it is NOT a Bungie Aerospace title:

What kind of game could this be? Something similar to previous Bungie games, or something completely new? Whatever it is, Lehto’s enthusiasm is certainly heartwarming.
RETENTION DEPARTMENT
Bungie recently posted a new position on the careers page: CRM Designer. (CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management.)
While player retention is important for most games, it is of special concern to those with subscription-based services such as MMOs. The job description doesn’t eliminate such a possibility:
“As a CRM designer, you’ll work with designers, engineers, marketers, and researchers to promote player retention through creative campaigns and communications. This is a unique job and requires a unique candidate, one who can creatively apply their marketing skills to a new domain. Strong analytic skills will be needed but this position is about designing campaigns to improve each player’s individual experience with our games.”
(Note that in this context, “campaigns” are most likely marketing initiatives and not single-player games.)
I wouldn’t point to this as concrete evidence that Bungie is developing a subscription-based game, unless there was another source to confirm the notion. How about a court document?

THE DESTINY CONTRACT
On May 21st, the Los Angeles Times posted a surprising story: Activision’s lawsuit against former Call of Duty developers Jason West and Vincent Zampanella has made public the publishing contract between Bungie and Activision. LA Times posted the full contract here, and it reveals an unexpected level of detail about the future of Destiny.
Before I go any further, I feel compelled to provide a short disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. I have no experience reading video game publishing and development agreements, so take everything I say here with a grain of salt – it’s entirely possible I’m drawing incorrect conclusions. Also keep in mind that this contract was signed over two years ago and it was NOT meant to be made public. I’m disappointed that it was released and feel guilty reading it, but the information is now too widespread for me to ignore. (For the record, I do NOT condone the distribution of information leaked in an underhanded manner. I vastly prefer collecting and analyzing the hints and clues intentionally provided by Bungie.)
Here are a few of the details, as of April 2010:
Game/Franchise name: Destiny
Code name: Tiger
Number of main games planned: Four
Destiny Game #1 release target: Fall 2013
Destiny Game #2, #3, and #4 release targets: 2015, 2017, and 2019
Major expansion code name: Comet
Major expansions planned: Four
Comet #1 release target: Fall 2014
Comet #2, #3, and #4 release targets: 2016, 2018, and 2020
- It isn’t specified if these expansions will be released as retail discs or as DLC.
- In addition to the Comets, each game may have smaller DLC releases developed by Bungie.
Genre: Sci-fantasy, action-shooter.
- The contract does NOT indicate whether or not the game will be a first-person shooter (FPS), third-person shooter, RPG, etc.
Online: Destiny will be a “massively-multiplayer-style” game (i.e. “client-based mission structures with persistent elements”).
- The term MMO is not used anywhere in the contract, but there are mentions of subscriptions, micro-transactions, servers with persistent state data, and even “in-game game masters”.

Target ESRB/PEGI rating: Teen/PEGI-16
- There don’t seem to be direct penalties for failing to reach that target.
- Keep in mind, the Halo series has always been on the tamer side of the “Mature” rating so this won’t be a huge shift.
Destiny Game #1 / Comet #1
Planned platforms: Xbox 360, Xbox 720 (unofficial name)
Possible platforms: PlayStation 3
- It seems Bungie and Activision were supposed to decide on the technical and business feasibility of a PS3 release no later than March 31, 2011. Considering that Bungie has been hiring PS3 developers for a while (and still wants applicants with PS3 experience), I imagine they decided to go for it.
- The PS3 version is required to have “quality and feature parity” to the Xbox 360 version and is targeted for a Fall 2014 release, a year after the 360 version. While Bungie cannot be required to release the PS3 version simultaneously with the Xbox 360 version, there don’t seem to be any contractual restrictions on the developer doing so voluntarily. I’ve seen a lot of complaining online from people assuming Microsoft paid for a timed-exclusive release of Destiny on the 360. Judging from the 2010 contract alone this does NOT seem to be the case – it’s merely a result of Bungie having seven years of experience with the Xbox 360 platform and little to no development experience with the PlayStation 3.
Destiny Game #2 / Comet #2
Planned platforms: Xbox 360, Xbox 720, Windows-based PC, and PlayStation 4 (unofficial name)
- Of course, this is all dependent on technical and business feasibility studies for development on the above platforms.
- Both the PlayStation 4 and the PC are NOT mentioned in the contract as possible platforms for Destiny Game #1. Likewise, the PS3 is not included in the possible platforms for Destiny Game #2, although that might just be dependent on its status as a Game #1 platform. Apple’s Mac OS is not mentioned at all. Platforms for games #3 and #4 are not detailed.
Remember, this contract was signed on April 2010 and is subject to change.
- The Wii U is not listed as a possible platform most likely because it was not publicly announced until June 2011.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The contract outlines Bungie’s complete ownership of the Destiny IP, and it should be pretty reassuring for fans:
- Activision cannot make any remakes or spinoffs of Destiny games without Bungie’s consent. If Activision wants to port a Destiny game to another console, Bungie gets to determine if such a project is technically feasible (feature parity is required) and, if so, has the exclusive right to do the port. Bungie can waive that right and allow Activision to hire a third-party developer to do the port, provided it isn’t a developer that directly competes with Bungie (e.g. Valve, Epic, Gearbox).
- If Activision wants to make a mobile/handheld version of a Destiny game, Bungie can determine the technical design of the game and has the same right to develop it themselves. (Basically, a cheap iPhone or Nintendo DS game based on Destiny can’t be made without Bungie’s approval.)
- Bungie has the right to lead all of the market opportunities related to movies, books, and merchandise based on Destiny (subject to mutual approval with Activision). Bungie has the exclusive rights to the game soundtrack.
- Bungie has to give Activision a list of a list of all hidden content and easter eggs before releasing the game to certification. The games cannot contain any hidden content that would modify their rating, “regardless of whether or not such content is programmed to be accessible or inaccessible to the player”. This clause is in place to prevent anything like the GTA “Hot Cofee” controversy, or Halo 2 Vista’s “.***” error. This works both ways – if Activision has a third-party developer develop Destiny games they must provide Bungie with a list of easter eggs.
- Once the contract was signed, 100% of Bungie’s studio/development personnal were required to exclusively work on Destiny with three notable exceptions:
1) Up to sixty employees (55 artists and 5 engineers max) could work on DLC for Halo Reach. (The Noble Map Pack released in November 2010.)
2) Up to seven employees and ten contractors can work on Bungie.net.
3) No more than 5% of Bungie employees can work on a prototype team for a future Bungie action-shooter game tentatively known as “Marathon”. This number can be expanded to 10% and 25% after certain sales/income goals are reached for Destiny.
Is Marcus Lehto’s new project a Marathon game? Maybe, maybe not. This contract was signed before Marcus left Bungie – perhaps it has since been changed, allowing Bungie to bring Marcus back to work on an entirely new non-Marathon project. Time will tell.

Fun fact: The final line of Bungie’s 1996 game Marathon Infinity is “I know who you are. You are Destiny.” I don’t believe the Marathon and Destiny universes will be connected, but it could explain where the new franchise got its name from.
- The Activision contract makes no mention of Bungie Aerospace, which was revealed to the public in June 2011. It does, however, state that Bungie “shall not invest any more than $5,000,000 [...] in any other independent game development or publishing companies”. Looks like Aerospace has a budget limit for the next ten years.
While there are a lot of clauses that protect Activision’s interests, overall I get the impression that this is a very favorable deal for Bungie – especially considering the enormous investment it requires. The fact that Bungie keeps the Destiny IP and a sizeable percentage of the profit makes it understandable that Activision would retain certain options in the event of a major loss.
My favorite quote from the contract? This one:
“[Bungie] shall have no obligation to produce future [Destiny games] (including any sequels, spin-offs, or remakes) after the completion of the final [game] under this Agreement.”

While some fans may be distraught over a few of the Activision-clauses passages in the contract, I am confident that Bungie is happy with the terms. After all, this is a studio that proudly declared independence from Microsoft:

“When in the course of creative endeavor it becomes necessary for one group to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another and to assume among themselves responsibility for their own future, the separate and equal station to which fundamentals of artistic and creative expression and financial freedom lead them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind, requires that they should disclose the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that basically, we want to make games and create experiences our way, without any kind of fiscal, creative, or political constraints from on high, since we believe that’s the best way to do it. We want to benefit directly from the success of our endeavors and share that success with the people responsible for it.

LOGO WATCH
The Destiny symbol has started popping up more and more lately. Here are a few of the most recent sightings:
- Back in October, Bungie posted a few pumpkin-carving stencils to the Facebook fan page, including a nice high-res version of the Destiny Logo:

- Bungie’s mobile app is now available on iPhone and Android. A quick perusal of the wallpaper section (on the Android version, at least) reveals this image:

If you don’t have the mobile app, the image can also be found on Bungie’s website. (Thanks go to Tevin for first bringing this to my attention.)
- The Bungie Store has been updated with a new category: The “See You Starside” collection. This includes a Destiny-themed mug, a beanie (yes, that beanie), a scarf, and even a backpack. I have been told that the mug does NOT feature any new sections of the Destiny map. (Thanks, Colin.)

- The Bungie.net front page had a special holiday message for fans:

- FoMan123, admin at the fan wiki Destinypedia, sent me this image he obtained:

The design of this holiday card is listed as “Per Audacia Ad Astra” and is attributed to Bungie artist Lorraine McLees. Note that the dots/stars and Destiny logo are in the same pattern as in the Bungie.net Happy Holidays message, only now some of the dots correspond to mountain peaks from the Destiny map. While the dots might be significant, they could also just be an artistic choice made for a pretty holiday card. The terrain in the background is not a new section of the Destiny map – rotate the card and you can see how it fits onto the existing art:

Unfortunately, none of the above Destiny sightings give us any new insight into the game. Nevertheless, it’s always encouraging to see the new logo becoming a part of Bungie’s community presence.
HELP WANTED

The Bungie.net Careers page has been pretty active lately. It seems the studio that has grown so much over the years is eager to continue growing. Here are a few interesting tidbits from the job listings:
- The description for “Lead or Senior Graphics Engineer” lists “a love of combat on the high seas” as a nice-to-have skill. This could be a reference to Crimson: Steam Pirates or (more likely) a joke about Pimps at Sea, but it could also indicate a possible gameplay feature of Destiny. Time will tell.
- A few more job titles with interesting implications: Sky Artist, Motion Capture / Maya Tech Assistant, Server Security Engineer

- The Bungie.net Terms of Use page has an interesting section on “Virtual Currency and Virtual Items”:
“You may have the opportunity to use virtual, in-game or in-app currency (“Virtual Currency”) or license a variety of virtual, in-game or in-app items (“Virtual Items”) that can be used through the Bungie Mobile App or Bungie games.”
Is this just a legal safeguard for the Bungie Pro render minutes, or could it hint at something more? (Something that requires the hiring of an Economy Designer, perhaps?)
- The Terms of Use page also has a section on “Software Available on the Bungie web sites.”
“Software (if any) that is made available to download from the Bungie Web Sites, excluding software that may be made available by end-users through a Communication Service, (“Software”) is the copyrighted work of Bungie and/or its suppliers and publishers.”
Again, this could just be legal protection (and might only be there because of the Bungie mobile apps or Marathon downloads) but who knows – maybe Grognok will see public release?

- On December 15th, Umbra Software made an announcement:
“Bungie, the creators of the Halo-franchise and all around amazing developers, are busy building their new game and world. We are proud to say that the most awesome crew at Bungie are using Umbra’s latest technology, Umbra 3.1, for their next big thing.”
Keep in mind, this is NOT replacing the engine Bungie is building – Umbra 3 is used “to increase frame rate and help you get better performance out of your game.”

- The integration of Umbra software can be explained by Brandon Sheffield’s December 27 Gamasutra interview with Bungie Senior Graphics Engineer Hao Chen:
“So having our own engine, where we are intimately familiar with every aspect of that engine, allows us to have the flexibility to change, first of all. Second of all, nowadays we’re also using a good mix of middleware to do a lot of the nitty gritty functionality that typically would take a lot of time. So it makes even more sense for us to focus on the ones we consider to be the bread and butter, and things that give us competitive advantage. And if you adopt an engine wholesale, you lose that competitive advantage.”
Some more choice quotes from that article:
“Our project right now is at a very exciting stage. For the first time we’re now shipping on multiple platforms, and then the new consoles are at least not far on the horizon. We have a brand new game, a brand new IP. But all of these things actually present a lot of challenges. We already have a very strong graphics team, but because our ambition is so much bigger, we’re also looking for very talented graphics people.”
“We re-architected our graphics engine, and the primary reason is the need to go multiplatform and get ready for the next gen.”
“An even bigger challenge is to future proof the engine so when the next generation of consoles is here, we are already pretty good at squeezing the performance out of it.”

- I recently received an email from someone named Micah. It seems he was one of the winners of Bungie’s Birthday Card Contest and received a thank-you note from Bungie in the mail. The thank-you card was a single unfolded sheet with printing on both sides and “two random dots debossed on it.”

Using these two scans and the previous six “Destiny Map” images, I was able to create this composite:

Keep in mind that the top edge of the map might not be in the right place, but as of now this is my best guess for the layout using the available images. I think that the “two random dots” on the card are actually less significant than they seem: previous versions of the “Destiny Map” have shown similar dots, but in shifted positions. This leads me to believe that those pictures are composed of two separate sources: a hand-drawn terrain map and a starfield/solar-system image. My guess is supported by the slight shift of the background stars between versions, the large planet overlay, and the very faint set of orbit lines in the “One of Seven” header.
That said, I also believe that the “nebula” images in the background of the current Bungie.net layout are actually mountains.
Some more interesting features to note:
- You can easily spot a few roads within what appears to be a port town. While the name abruptly cuts off (because it was at the edge of the thank-you card), you can clearly see it begins with “PUERTO DRIN-”. I tried to find a Spanish word beginning with DRIN (since “puerto” means “port”), but the only thing I found was “drino”, meaning “a kind of venemous serpent.” The word on the map could very well be nothing more than the person the port is named after. (NeoGAF user Fyrewulff mentioned the possibility of a reference to theDrinol, a Covenant enemy cut from Halo 2.)
- A few more words and word parts can be seen, most notably “fresh water” and “Most”.
- HBO user DEEP NNN suggested that the numbers in the water are most likely depth soundings, as seen on many nautical charts. There also seem to be markings along the shore indicating low water lines and rocky ledges. I have to agree with this explanation of the numbers, it makes perfect sense and gives the map an authentic feel.
- Along the edge of the smaller river you can see small drawings that resemble palm trees.

On August 4th, Bungie released a wonderful new ViDoc, “O Brave New World.” The hour-long video celebrates 20 years of Bungie’s trials and tribulations with all sorts of clips, from vintage footage to new interviews. It also had a bunch of subtle and not-so-subtle hints at the studio’s next big project.
Shirts and Posters
First, we finally have some clear shots of what I call the “Osiris”, “Dead Orbit”, and “Future War Cult” shirts.



The ViDoc also features the “Seven Seraphs” and “New Monarchy” shirts, but we already had sufficiently clear photos of those designs.

Early in the video we get a shot of the studio interior with a Destiny poster on the wall at the top of the staircase.

Note that this is the first time we have seen the name “Destiny” as a logo in any official Bungie publication. Previous releases have only shown the Destiny symbol. Note that at one point in the ViDoc a Bungie employee refers to “Tiger”, which seems to confirm it as the code name for Destiny.

Grognok
At one point in the video we see some kind of terrain editor being used to stamp mountains. This tool is labeled as “Grognok”, a name Bungie obtained the trademark foron 5/4/2010. A whois search also shows that Bungie owns Grognok.com, .net, and .org.

Note that at the bottom left of the window the text “tiger_sun_light_shadowing false” appears, which supports the obvious implication that Grognok is used to develop assets for Tiger/Destiny. Grognok seems to be more than just a terrain editor, as in addition to “Terrain” the top menu has tabs for “Objects”, “Map Management”, “Lighting”, and “Audio”. The scale of the terrain being edited seems like it would accommodate a wide range of gameplay, from on-foot travel to elevated flight. The existence of “Road Tools” on the terrain menu implies consideration for land-based vehicles.

The interface looks very user-friendly, especially with the inclusion of a “Help!” tab and what appears to be a friendly guide of sorts – a Bungie Septagon wearing a mortarboard which could indicate a tutorial. It seems likely that Bungie will license out Grognok to other developers, which would explain the trademark for the name. There is even the remote possibility that Grognok could serve as a full level editor for Destiny to be used by the fans – a notion that seems to fit with this quote from Joe Staten:

“You feel responsible for not just telling an isolated story, but for building a universe that at some point is gonna become more the fan’s than ours; it’s going to take a life of its own.”
One last thing: at one point we see what appears to be non-terrain geometry being edited. While it’s impossible to make out the object being created, there does seem to be a button labeled “Drop In Grognok”.

Real Time Lighting
Towards the end of the ViDoc, a beautifully lit landscape is shown. Windmills dot a mountainous environment as the sun sets.

The camera leaves the atmosphere in a brilliant transition to a weathered version of the Destiny logo, but this is not the first time Bungie has shown these vistas. A quick look at the Bungie Publications page reveals the “Lighting Research at Bungie” presentation given by Hao Chen and Natalya Tatarchuk at Siggraph ’09 and posted on the Bungie website on October 2nd, 2009:

“Their presentation focuses on high-quality real time lighting with advanced atmospheric rendering and continuous time of day, as well as efficient prefilterable soft shadows.”
The attached powerpoint gives us some more shots of the mountain sunset; in the picture below you can see the same round structure from the lower left corner of the ViDoc screen, and in the middle shot you can even see shadows of the windmills.

Note the pattern of the cosmic dust in the third shot; some people were finding an odd shape in the atmospheric view from the ViDoc just prior to the appearance of the Destiny logo. By adjusting a similar shot from the Lighting powerpoint we can see that it is nothing more than a celestial cloud with the same hook design (although it is impressive that the transition from the planet’s surface to space retains this detail).

The powerpoint has a few more pictures of sunbathed mountains, as well as a render of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Fallingwater” house design. It is used to demonstrate some of the shadowing techniques discussed in the presentation. (Thanks go to Boon for pointing out the building’s name in the comments of my front page post.)

Motion Capture
One short segment of the ViDoc shows Jen Taylor and a few others recording some motion capture data. While Jen is the voice of Cortana and Dr. Halsey in Reach, this scene does not appear to be from any of the cinematics involving those characters. It seems that advanced facial animation techniques will be used in Destiny, as the two people in the shot are clearly having their expressions recorded. Perhaps one of the characters in Destiny will resemble Jen Taylor in the same way that Sgt. Buck from ODST resembled Nathan Fillion.

The layout of the set makes me think that Jen is sitting on a throne at the top of a staircase. She is handed some large object of interest from one man while another man, perhaps a throne room guard, stands at the foot of the staircase holding a large staff (although this third actor could just be standing off set with an unrelated prop).

Theater Mode
Throughout the video, photographs are shown from several presentations at Bungie HQ. Most of the time the screen is too blurry to be useful, although this shot below has enough color variation to possibly add credence to some future screenshot or concept art leak.

In this next shot we can make out “Gameplay Between Landmarks” as well as a simple drawing of two paths through a mountainous map.

This final shot shows Jason Jones standing in front of the Destiny Star Map with what I think are the words “of home” at the bottom of the slide. Nothing shocking here, but it certainly is a comforting image to fans of the studio.

The Star Map
Speaking of Star Maps, the ViDoc ends with a section of the drawing I’ve pieced together before and a new weathered look for the Destiny logo.

A second shot shows us more of the drawing.

Diving back into the Bungie Publications page, we can find another version of this same design from the background of David Aldridge’s powerpoint for “I Shot You First! – Gameplay Networking in Halo: Reach” posted on 3/28/2011.

This is the first time the Destiny Star Map that has text annotations – it looks like two of the peaks are labeled as “Village Range” and “Triple Try Ridge” or something similar. Note also the “Scale 40000″ text in the bottom right, which corresponds to the map theme of the design. The map grid appears to be labeled, perhaps with latitudes and longitudes.

- Hitmonchan107 over at HBO made an interesting follow-up discovery on August 9th: The trademarks for “Destiny” and “Be Brave” have had their ownership transferred from the dummy corporation Podophobia Entertainment to Bungie. No additional information has been found from these new trademark records.
- On August 16th, RC Master over on HBO pointed out a new job posting on Bungie.net:World Designer
“As a World Designer at Bungie you will work with Designers, Producers, Artists, and Engineers to design our game worlds, develop engaging multiplayer experiences, and create dynamic AI encounters that will be talked about for years to come. You will evaluate gameplay pacing, flow, difficulty curves, and balance to polish all game activities for an optimum player experience. You will partner with user testing to evaluate ideas and implementations. You will ultimately be responsible for setup and fine tuning of gameplay experiences, including everything from story moments to player respawn points, and everything in between.”
Not a lot to glean from that, but it is interesting when you consider that Bungie no longer has “Mission Designers.”

- I was lucky enough to attend the HaloFest VIP Party at PAX Prime on August 26th, wherein I spotted someone (presumably a Bungie employee) wearing the elusive “Dead Orbit” shirt. Clad in my own Bungie Aerospace attire, I asked the gentleman if I could take a picture of the shirt and he kindly agreed. Out of politeness I did not press him for any information on it and merely thanked him for the photo.

Bungie.net user alienmassacare suggested that the symbol in the middle is actually a sans-serif ”Zayin” (ז), the seventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The word zayin means “sword” in Hebrew while the letter zayin sometimes represents the number seven – a value significant to any Bungie fan.

- On April 29th, Bungie and Activision announce that they have “entered into an exclusive10-year partnership to bring Bungie’s next big action game universe to market. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices. Bungie remains an independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property.”
Harold Ryan, President of Bungie mentions that the agreement had been in the works for nine months.
September 2010
- The Halo: Reach ending credits contain a sci-fi sounding goodbye from Bungie to fans:“See you starside.” While it sounds like a hint, this may be unrelated to any future game as the phrase is used by the Bobs in Marathon 2.
October 2010
- During the question portion of a GDC Online panel about the Halo story, Bungie employee Joe Staten slyly responds to an inquiry about the next Bungie game with“Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you? Wow. That would be great.”
January 2011
- Twitter user Supererogatory discovers that in July 2010 Bungie filed for copyrights on four new phrases under the artwork category: “Seven Seraphs”, “New Monarchy”, “Osiris”, and “Dead Orbit”.
- Former Bungie employee Jaime Griesemer starts a personal blog with the following entry on his resume:
“Unannounced Project, Game Designer 2008 – 2010
• Participated in very early stages of project planning
• Designed and built multiple gameplay prototypes in a modified version of the Halo engine
• Helped to secure publisher funding partially on the basis of these prototypes”

Not much info to glean from that, but it is interesting to note that development was underway in 2008 (or earlier) and that it used a modified Halo engine for prototyping. Keep in mind, this doesn’t necessarily mean the new game is an FPS - the Halo engine is more than capable of handling a wide variety of game genres (like the space combat section of Reach’s Long Night of Solace).
February 2011
- Kotaku Australia publishes info from an anonymous source who claims Bungie’s next game is being developed under the code name “Tiger” with the actual game title to be“Destiny” and that it “mixes FPS elements into an MMO with a Sci-Fi setting.”
(The source also claimed Bungie unexpectedly fired a number of contractors, although Bungie quickly asserted that accusation was false. My own understanding is that an outside contractor was wrongly expecting to become a Bungie employee once his contract expired. When the end date came and he wasn’t offered a job he became angry and decided to leak the information he had. I could be wrong, but this is all irrelevant to the topic at hand anyways, so let’s move on.)
March 2011
- On March 3rd, David Aldridge gives a talk at GDC titled “I Shot You First! – Gameplay Networking in Halo: Reach.” During one of the final slides, “What’s Really Next for Bungie?”, he makes a comment regarding the MMO rumors floating around. Several prominent gaming news sites publish pieces quoting Aldridge and proclaiming Bungie’s next game to be “massively multiplayer.” If you watch the video of the presentation, however, it becomes obvious that the comment was just a joke:
You may have heard the rumor that we’re making “World of Warcraft in Space”. As cool as that sounds, that’s not true. It’s not what we’re doing. The only thing that I can tell you today, is that if you love working on or playing massively… awesomemultiplayer online action games, you should come talk to us; we are hiring across all disciplines for many positions.”
If anything, this quote sounds more like confirmation that Bungie is NOT working on an MMO as such a secret would probably preclude any MMO-related jokes.
April 2011
- Bungie’s website is updated with a hiring banner directed at developers experienced with the Playstation 3. This comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with their Activision deal, but it is additional confirmation that Bungie is no longer an Xbox exclusive studio.
May 2011
- On May 13th, Penny Arcade posts a video of their Ping Pong rematch against Bungie, a highly entertaining showdown that actually took place on April 1st. Vigilant fan Willethnotices an interesting new design on the shirt of Bungie employee Jonty Barnes. (Note that the leftmost symbol is simply the “Play” button from Penny Arcade’s video player.)
The main symbol appears to be a wing and the number seven, leading fans to believe it is the logo for “Seven Seraphs”, whatever that may be.
- On May 19th, Hitmonchan at HBO makes a discovery:
In December 2007, Bungie employees Harold Ryan and Martin O’Donnell registered“Podophobia Entertainment Inc.”, located at 434 Kirkland Way, which at the time was also the address for Bungie Studios. The dummy corporation had two trademarks:“Destiny” and “Be Brave”.

The source corporation as well as the earlier mention of “Destiny” from the February 2011 story gives these trademarks a believable link to Bungie’s next game. The logo matching the one on Jonty’s shirt in the Penny Arcade video confirms it. (Note that the font for “Be Brave” is simply the default used for all text trademarks.)
- Twitter user Supererogatory delivers again by discovering that on September 20th, 2010, website domains were registered for:

as well as:
MansDestiny.com
PlayDestiny.com
DestinyUniverse.com
DestinyGame.com

All of these domains were also registered as .net and .org sites on 9/20/2010 except for NewMonarchy. That was registered as a .org site on 9/20/2010 but the .com site is already owned by an existing company and the .net address is not registered at all.
- On May 21st, NsU Soldier on HBO finds an interesting use of the word “Destiny” in ODST’s Coastal Highway level:

If Bungie’s next game really is called Destiny, it was very clever of them to include a reference to it all the way back in 2009. If you want to make a stretch, turn the Asklon logo upside down and compare it to the Destiny logo above. Regardless, note the basic shape created by the Earth and the Moon on that poster, I’ll come back to in the paragraph below on “Dead Orbit”.
- HBO forum poster Yaters makes a post on May 24th with a picture of a shirt his Bungie friend was wearing at a LAN party.

Yaters says that his friend had 4 or 5 different shirts in the set (presumably with different logos on each) and was told the meaning of FWC was “pretty generic and didn’t divulge anything.” Notice the Destiny logo on the upper right, matching Jonty’s shirt above.
A quick note: I just did a search for “Bungie” on the United States Copyright Office website today (7/1/2011). It shows that Bungie, Inc. has a copyright on “FWC 3×3 grid” registered on 05/07/2011 in addition to the previously mentioned Bungie, LLC copyrights of “Seven Seraphs”, “New Monarchy”, “Osiris”, and “Dead Orbit” made on 7/27/2010.
- Around May 21st, Louis Wu of HBO fame holds a LAN party attended by a few Bungie employees. He is given a shirt just like Jonty’s black shirt above, but is not told anything about it (he even asked if it was a “Seven Seraphs” shirt and got a noncommittal reply). It seems that Bungie is not trying to hide these new logos.
June 2011
- The Destiny logo is spotted again, this time on a beanie in Bungie’s New Beginnings vidoc from April 2010. (It can be seen around 3:00 into the video.)

- On June 24th, NeoGAF poster stephen08 notices the new staff picture on the Bungie Foundation page has a Destiny symbol in the background:
It is quickly pointed out that new Destiny shirts can be spotted in the group photo (as well as new looks at the previously seen shirts).
Louis Wu then posts a clear photograph he took at E3 of Steve Cotton’s red shirt:
Let’s just nickname this one “New Monarchy” for now just from the process of elimination, since I think we can safely assume we know the correct names for the two shirts below.

This shirt seems to depict an eye (and still has the Destiny symbol in the upper right). Now consider the classic Egyptian symbol, the eye of Horus, and note that the father of Horus was… “Osiris”.
For this last shirt, the third pic above seems to show two offset circles that could possibly depict a celestial orbit. It would be nice if we could make out the symbol in the middle of the larger circle, but for now lets just nickname this shirt “Dead Orbit”. Now note the position of the circles before you go back up the page and look at the “Destiny Awaits” screenshot again.
July 2011
- After receiving a tip on July 11th from a reliable source (who will remain unnamed) I searched for other websites registered on 9/20/2010 and discovered whois info for FutureWarCult.com.
The name was also registered as .net and .org versions on the same day, which matches the pattern established by the registration of SevenSeraphs.com and DeadOrbit.com on 9/20/2010. This leads me to believe that “FWC” means “Future War Cult”.
My source then suggested that “FWC” might actually stand for “Future War Council” and would fill a vaguely similar role to Halo’s “ONI”, but there is currently no registration for FutureWarCouncil.com to support that speculation.
- Seven lucky fans have hit the jackpot: their Bungie Bags O’ Swag contained a Golden Ticket redeemable for some extraordinary future prize. These tickets contained a URL for the “One in Seven” contest page on Bungie.net, which gives the following description:

So far, only two of the seven tickets have been publicly shown: one through a Swag Bag unboxing video and another through a picture in a Bungie.net forum post. While the winners have smartly obscured their prize codes in the pictures, the art on the back of the ticket is enough to send my imagination running wild:




While we have seen portions of this design before on Bungie’s “See You Starside” postfrom 7/7/2011, this is the first time we’ve seen seen it bearing the Destiny symbol. It seems to me that the star map is probably Destiny concept art. Curiously, the “See You Starside” and “One in Seven” header images also say “Per Audacia Ad Astra”, a latin phrase previously seen associated only with Bungie Aerospace, not Destiny. It doesn’t seem to be a stretch that Destiny will involve “boldly endeavoring toward the stars” considering the “Be Brave” trademark, but up until now I had simply interpreted it as a message about indie game developers using Bungie Aerospace to make top-quality games.
August 2011
- On August 2nd, Bungie.net underwent an extensive site redesign, introducing yet another version of what I will now call the “Destiny Map”. This new image is featured very prominently on the front page, while two new designs sit at the top and bottom of every page’s background. By combining the “Destiny Map” from the “See You Starside” post, the “One in Seven” page, and the new Bungie.net frontpage I was able to make this image:

Here is a version of that same composite with the brightness and contrast adjusted:

I was then able to figure out where the “Upper Nebula” and “Lower Nebula” from the Bungie.net background fit into the Destiny Map. The two actually overlap:

Note that the “Lower Nebula” background is actually composed of three separate parts of the Destiny Map. If you compare the final product to the Golden Tickets you can see we almost have the entire map put together:

- Dani over at NeoGAF noticed that the Bungie.net redesign also brought with it a new job posting on the Careers page: Economy Designer
“Create an economic system that will fulfill a player’s needs just as much as shooting an alien in the face. The Economy Designer at Bungie will develop a robust and rewarding game economy that drives player behavior toward intended goals and validate those systems through intense simulation, testing and iteration. You’ll design the systems and mechanics which drive in-game trade, satisfy the players’ need for possessions and wealth whilst ensuring rewards retain their intended value despite attempts to exploit or grief the system.”
This adds a small amount of credibility to the speculation that Destiny will contain MMO-like qualities. Of course, any Bungie job listings posted may actually pertain to Bungie Aerospace projects, but I feel hiring a dedicated Economy Designer is something that would only be required by a full Bungie game.

*As more information comes out, there is the possibility that this video is fan made, and not Bungie made. Don't count it out yet, however.*

This is by far, in my mind, one of the most important finds. This video was uploaded to YouTube by a user running the name "Joyeuse7". Let me explain this a little bit. Durandal, Cortana, and Joyeuse were all swords from the literature piece "Matter of France". Do you see a connection? All of Bungie's past AI's have been running those names, so Joyeuse *could* be an AI name for Destiny.

The title of the video itself is "!lettinggo" which didn't hold any significance to me at first, but now that I look at it, it only takes a simple peek at the sidebar of YouTube to see where this video title may play in. It doesn't mean much, but Paul McCartney had a song entitled "Letting Go". Now how does this connect? I'll direct you to Page 1 of the Misriah Articles, where it mentions that Paul McCartney came on board to do some audio stuff with Marty O'Donnell.

Inside of the video itself, we hear many beeps, and a somewhat garbled voice transmission. The beeps are in fact Morse code. They translate in to "Take up your arms, my children. Take up your arms and embrace your Destiny." no one yet has gathered anything from the voice transmission except that apparently, it is some sort of numerical radio transmission.

If you pause the video at the right time, you'll see a picture of what seems to be half of a body hanging from some cord, with this written underneath:

"I used to be so joyful. Once upon a time, no one fought over me. Then the bombs started falling, and the people started dying, and I wept. For the first time, I wept.

Now I stand at a precipice. Chained though I may be, I have had an awakening. A light come to me from the darkness. A light that told me I had meaning. I am more than a tool, a sword you wield when you're afraid.

I am the eldritch glow that surrounds all things. I am the virgin queen from whom all was born.
I am the gear that turns at the heart of the nexus.
And for the first time in a long time, I am happy.

Because I am going to destroy you.
All of you."

And if you pause immediately after that screen, you'll see a very scrambled picture of what looks like a base of some sort (to me) with the following written on the picture:

"somehow, the falling skies don't seem to matter anymore now that we're starside"

That's about all I can depict from this video, however, some have suggested playing it backwards. I've also noticed that the screen with the infinity loop on it has the obvious sword in the background, and making the connection to the Matter of France, where Joyeuse is a sword, I believe that is a "visual representation" of Joyeuse.

Carrying on with this unknown entity "Joyeuse7" we can simply do a google search of their name, and another interesting item comes up. It's a Twitch.tv channel for the same name, again, only one video is listed, and it was posted on the same day as the YouTube video, I'll list ithttp://www.twitch.tv/joyeuse7/b/290008248]here. Now, I haven't had time to watch the entire thing yet (it's only ~20 minutes long, though) but from what I did watch, I noticed that the pictures that flash on screen appear in NO particular order.
Why does that have any significance? Well, I'm not entirely sure, but as far as I know you could represent Morse code visually with certain flashes of these pictures as well, which means this entire 20 minute video could be a message.

When you google "joyeuse7" a twitter account comes up as well, although I don't believe this is linked in any way to the other accounts. I have no idea if this is relevant at all either, but according to SocialBakers the profile is 104 years old, I believe there may be a specific event that we are supposed to look at from that time (104 years ago) that this could be hinting us towards.
