it worked really well when i switched from 4k to 1080p, xb1 def not 4k material

I don't know what you expected when that first models don't have anywhere near the hardware for it.

I would have thought this was expected by many but most probably didn't bother to look any further into it or critique it.

Did you expect it to work? The console currently does not have the capability to render at 4K. The X1S will render blurays in 4K, followed by Scorpio having gaming in 4K.

Trying to get the current Xbox to render something in 4K is as useful as trying to make scrambled eggs in a toaster.

I'm pretty sure that it is the Edge browser that doesn't have the support for it.
